Topic: Leon Bridges

Just recently stumbled across this guy and thought I'd stepped back in time.  R&B and Blues....what a great combination.

If there's already been a post about Leon then I apologize.  Check out his other stuff on the web too if you dig it.

Re: Leon Bridges

I really dig Leon. He's got a throwback sound that reminds me of Sam Cook, but smoother. A nice R&B thing goin' on. This is a track that got my attention. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYplnRjMVhM

Re: Leon Bridges

I don't accept anyone can be smoother than Sam Cooke, JDawg!  He's Telegram Sam, my main man, and yes, he really does send me!  Maybe the music arrangements are smoother, but,...
(now, if you had said smoother than Jackie Wilson...)

Regardless, you and Curby (hope things are good wink) have piqued my interest...and I usually pshaw the too many, too predictable entries proffered in this topical para-dice...

I believe I may check this Leon fellow out... big_smile

Re: Leon Bridges

First Dawg.  It was your song that grabbed me first, but I really liked "Twistin" & Groovin'" cause it stirs the dancer in this old body.  His album Coming Home just puts me in a good mood.  Have you heard his version of the Temptations' "Ball of Confusion" off The Get Down Soundtrack?  Amazing how the words to a 46 year old song is tapping me on the shoulder in 2016.  Pretty awesome stuff.  Think this guy could sing the telephone book and I'd be hooked.

Rocket - Thanks for remembering me.  I'm doing pretty good all things considered.  I remarried in May 2015 and was able to relocate back to my Indiana home from Atlanta last month.  Traveling a lot but very lucky to be with my new wife more often.  What didn't survive my first wife's passing is my passion for the blues.  I still listen to it, but not as much.  For some reason I've fallen in love with country music.  That was Mitzi's first love.  I really like Eric Church, Chris Stapleton and Adam Hood.  Got some Garland Jefferies music this weekend and an old Joe Walsh album last week.
Hope you guys are doing well!
