Topic: Buddy Guy & Jeff Beck with Beth Hart at the Hollywood Bowl 8/10/16

Hope it's ok for me to post this here.  I can't believe how many tix are still available for this epic event & just want to make sure anyone who might want to go knows about it.  (Sorry so last minute)

Buddy Guy & Jeff Beck with Beth Hart at the Hollywood Bowl Wednesday 8/10/16 8pm $14-47

http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/tickets/50 … 2016-08-10

The show is billed as "50 years of Jeff Beck" with special guest Beth Hart, and Buddy Guy as the opening act. Steven Tyler was recently added to the bill as a special guest.

The show has been described as a career retrospective for Jeff Beck & a celebration of Buddy's 80th Birthday (7/30/16) with "other special guests" (besides Beth Hart & Steven Tyler)

The show is listed as a stop on the Loud Hailer tour, & Rosie Bones refers to it on her social media, so safe to assume there will be a sampling of the newest stuff.  (good news for me, I'm lovin' the new stuff, but I know not everyone feels the same way)

How is this not sold out?!  (I know, it's a Wednesday, but it's also Buddy Guy, Jeff Beck, Beth Hart & "other special guests" at the Hollywood Bowl!!!!

Tons of tix still available $14-47.

I speculate on the setlist here:

Re: Buddy Guy & Jeff Beck with Beth Hart at the Hollywood Bowl 8/10/16

The show was absolutely amazing!!!!  Such a blast--thanks for asking, Beth-O-Holic.
Wow, can't believe it's been a week already. On my way home, I relived Purple Rain in my head & I couldn't wait to tell the forum about it.  Once I got home, however, I knew better than to let myself near my computer and wisely went to bed. (It was a school night.)  It's been a hectic blur of a week, but filled with amazing music, so all is good!

Anyway, for those who haven't heard: Beth Hart brought the house down at "50 years of Jeff Beck" at the Hollywood Bowl last week with an electric performance of Purple Rain!!! They closed the show with it. Beth was amazing, Jeff Beck tore it up on guitar, and Rosie Bones, Jimmy Hall & Steven Tyler provided back-up vocals.  The place went nuts and all the performers seemed to be having so much fun together, it was an unforgettable performance!

I was so happy to see Linda was there & got it on video: (Thanks, Linda!!)

Before the show I heard several different people ask "Who's Beth Hart?" I was unfortunately not close enough to any of them to answer them.  (I try to keep 'shouting across rows of strangers' to a minimum in public.)  No worries, Beth answered them herself, way better than I could have.  I saw a short blurb on rollingstone.com the next day complimenting her performance! Yay, Beth!!! Hope she is finally getting the props & recognition here in the U.S. that she so deserves.

So that was how the evening ended. Here are some highlights from the rest of the night:

Buddy Guy--So fun, so entertaining, the consummate showman!  I adore Buddy Guy & am so glad I finally got to see the legend live.  Only bummer was it was such a short set--38 minutes.  (The Bowl has a strict curfew and BG was opening for "50 years of Jeff Beck," so the evening was all about Mr. Beck.)  Buddy joined Jeff later for "Let Me Love You Baby" which was a lot of fun.

In between sets, photos of Jeff Beck from throughout his career were shown on the big screens.

Jeff Beck was of course amazing, stunning, awe-inspiring, etc. The Jeff Beck set covered songs from The Yardbirds to Loud Hailer.  Rosie Bones opened the set with "The Revolution will Be Televised" and came back later for "Live in the Dark" & "Scared for the Children." I thought she was fantastic--bold, spunky & energetic.  I love the new stuff & of course, it was even better live. "Scared for the Children" was particularly moving live.  Jimmy Hall provided vocals for the early songs.  Jan Hammer dazzled on keys. Rhonda Smith worked her magic on bass.  I was beyond happy when Jeff Beck brought Beth Hart out & I heard the opening notes of "I'd Rather Go Blind."  Beth nailed it!  The people around me were blown away!  Billy Gibbons made a surprise appearance for 2 songs.  Steven Tyler also did 2 songs, which I missed b/c I needed a potty break.  Luckily, I got back just in time for "A Day in the Life," which was stellar. They closed it out (& brought down the house) with Purple Rain. Epic night at the Bowl!!!

Re: Buddy Guy & Jeff Beck with Beth Hart at the Hollywood Bowl 8/10/16

Wow, pretty awesome.  I'm seeing Buddy and Jeff this coming Saturday, but your show sounded stellar.  I'm sure I'll be in for a great show, though.  Can't wait for it!

Re: Buddy Guy & Jeff Beck with Beth Hart at the Hollywood Bowl 8/10/16

Hey Leanne, have fun at the show tonight!!  You are definitely in for a great show. You really can't go wrong with Buddy Guy & Jeff Beck! (IMO)  Let us know how the show is for you.  I saw your question about how early do you need to get there for GA.  I haven't done a GA show in a long time, and I'm always wondering the same thing about how early I'd need to get there.  Hope it all works out & you get a good spot!  Rock On!

So much music, so little time!

Re: Buddy Guy & Jeff Beck with Beth Hart at the Hollywood Bowl 8/10/16

Thanks, the show was fantastic!  Jeff Beck was really great but Buddy Guy was amazing!  He was really hilarious besides cranking it out.  We got to the gates an hour and a half before they opened and were able to get a really great spot at the front of the GA section.

For those of you in the Pacific Northwest, I highly recommend going to shows at the Maryhill Winery.  Fantastic venue!

Glad to hear you got a great spot and it was a fantastic show!  I agree, Buddy Guy is hilarious!  Good to know about the arrival time & venue--thanks for the report!
