Topic: British Blues Explosion CD release? Red Rocks entry delay

I’m surprised Joe did not delay the start of his Red Rocks July 19th show. Due to a serious thunder storm, entry into the facility was delayed and further exacerbated by new security measures. Many of us missed a good portion of the concert and I didn’t make it to my seat until midway through “Double Crossing Time”. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed after traveling from NC to see Joe and finally cross Red Rocks off my “bucket list”. Thank God for the extended encore. My only hope is that Joe will release either this concert or another from the “British Blues Explosion” – How ‘bout it Joe!

The show at Greenwich in London was filmed for a DVD and will also probably include an extras section with footage from The Cavern Club show.

Hey welcome to the forum! sorry to hear abotu the delay etc. in another thread here it was pointed out that they may have decided to not delay further because more storms were coming?

i feel your pain though  - not expereinced the same thing but did miss a whole Joe show cause of the rain once, storm .
delay, i gave up, found out later he played after i left. but it wasn't the $same kind of journey

i like your attitude though, and as Natasha pointed out, there WILL be a dvd!

any highlights for you from the parts you did see?

Thanks for the welcome! I'm definitely planning on a Red Rocks re-do next August 2017. I learned a lesson- we where pretty high up and with the wind swirling around the sound was less than steller. When the wind finally settled down it sounded fantastic- Joe kicked butt as usual. This occurred during "Pretending" which I hope he keeps in his set list next tour. Hearing "This Train" and "Mountain Climbing" during the encore was nice and "Sloe Gin" was great! Next time I'll handle it differently- closer to the stage and hop in line much earlier. Can't wait for the DVD so I can hear some of the Jeff Beck stuff. My heart dropped when I recognized "Beck's Bolero" standing in line behind hundreds of people waiting in line to get in. BTW-  Jeff's new cd - "Loud Hailer" doesn't disappoint.

Must be hard with all the shows Joe plays to decide on what concert(s) to film. I guess the flip-side to that is when he does it's pretty special and filmed for a reason. Looking forward to this next one.

Sounds like more people than I realized were still in line when Beck's Bolero started.  I was too, and yes my heart did sink, but I was nearly through security so I guess I was luckier than some.  Got to the parking lot around 6pm for the 8pm show.  I was really glad the rain stopped and didn't come back during the show.  Have seen many great shows at Red Rocks but there's always a chance of rain.  Earlier this summer I saw Steely Dan and Steve Winwood and came home with actual bruises from hail, that's the worst I've ever experienced. Glad Joe is coming back in August next year, that's about the best chance of perfect weather.
