Topic: Listen to Jeff Beck's Loud Hailer

You can listen to the complete album here. Plenty of Jeff's trademark licks and tone and yet it's fresh and very innovative. I love it.

Love the guitar, but not a big fan of the vocals.

Have to agree, great guitar when it breaks through but that vocals/lyrics don't have the anticipated "bite".

I've actually got tickets to see Jeff Beck & Buddy Guy in 20 days in Denver.  I figured he'd be doing his blues stuff with Buddy, but if it's going to be performing this material I might need to sell my tickets.  Its just not to my tastes...

It's a shame too, I had close in seats and we don't know how many tours those 2 have left in them.

I saw a double bill of Jeff & Eric Clapton in London a few years ago and they didn't do one song together. Could be the same with Buddy.

Kenny,

Sorry I wasn't clear.  I simply meant that if he's touring with a bluesman, I assumed he'd likely do more of his blues stuff.  I just can't see Buddy opening with a blues set and Jeff busting into his progressive rock / jazz fusion material.

I did read elsewhere that singer Jimmy Hall (from the Live+ album) will be on tour with him as well as the female lead from Loud Hailer, so I'm going to wait to see the setlist before I dump the tickets.  His first show with Buddy is tonight or tomorrow night so we'll know soon enough.

Re: Listen to Jeff Beck's Loud Hailer

Sometimes I feel like the only person that can't quite get into Jeff's style of playing. I have tried in the past but it's just a little 'jagged', if that even makes sense. I have his Ronnie Scott's live album somewhere, might have to dig it out and give it another listen or two.

Buddy Guy is off the hook too, he's someone I have to listen to in moderate doses haha. I saw him live in the UK probably about 20 years ago when The Hoax were supporting him, an amazing showman but man his solos are loose-as-a-goose!

I love it too. I picked up a copy yesterday. Good purchase.

Thanks for the Jimmy Hall heads up. I'm mixed on Loud Hailer but Jimmy is one of the best.
