Topic: Blues Deluxe...

We played Blues Deluxe once a night on Wed, Fri, and Sat, at the bar this week...

The friggin crowd LOVED it...

I had to make sure to plug JB before I played it...

I guess I need to get a copy of tje Jeff Beck version to see what the difference is...

I really dig that song, but we can't even come close to JB and the boys version...

Re: Blues Deluxe...

I've got the old Jeff Beck LP record and the song "Blues Deluxe" was written by Rod Stewart.
It's a much slower version than what Joe does.  Both are great, but there's more guitar solo
work in Joe's version.  Get the remake CD if you can find it.  The title is  "Truth".  Enjoy!!

Re: Blues Deluxe...

Jeff Beck's "Truth" album is a classic. Talk about an allstar lineup! Members (or eventual members) of Jefferson Starship, Journey, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Stones, Faces, and the Yardbirds!

Jeff Beck
Rod Stewart
Aynsley Dunsbar
Keith Moon
John Paul Jones
Ron Wood
Mickey Waller

Re: Blues Deluxe...

Stu,

You never cease to amaze me, one of my favorite albums, I'd love to hear Joe to I Ain't Superstitious, wowowow
And this was the first bit break that Rod Stewart got also, love Jeff Beck, but damn Joe kicks his azzzzzz

Love, Peace, Beatles and JOE!!!

Re: Blues Deluxe...

Well don't be too amazed, I didn't discover that record until after Joe recorded Blues Deluxe. Mikel Peters and Utah Billy both turned me on to that record...but it has become a favorite of mine as well!

Re: Blues Deluxe...

Yeah! Beck's Bolero off that album is one of my all time favorite songs:

I like Joe a bunch, but this statement is just wrong, and I bet Joe would agree.

Jeff Beck is widely regarded as the best rock guitarist living.

of course JB would never say he was better than Jeff Beck, that would not be his style.

I like Jeff Beck for what he did, when he did it.

I like Joe for what he's doing now.

for one guitar player to "kick" another one's "azzzzzzzzzzz" is a matter of taste.

someone might say that Michael Angelo kicks Robert Johnson's azzzzzzzzzzzzz, even though they're totally different, and RJ never got to do two handed tapping on a triple neck guitar, with six cans of hairspray, distortion, spandex, and pyro-technics...but a blues purist would have you killed for that remark...LOL!

I don't think it's wrong for him to think that Joe is better than Beck...and not wrong for you to think otherwise...

Have you heard any of Jeff's recent stuff? Pretty mind boggling....

Re: Blues Deluxe...

Jeff's older stuff is primo but his latest release, "Jeff"; I lined the bird cage with it.

Blues ain't nothin' but a good woman gone bad.

it's about an individual fan's taste. If someone says Joe kicks everyone's butt, you probably won't change his/her mind. Just like you're not gonna budge from your Beck stance, which is cool. That's what makes it great.

Re: Blues Deluxe...

I've seen Jeff Beck 4 or 5 times, absolutely outstanding talent. My most vivid memory of those shows was a daytime concert at the old Comiskey Park in Chicago. There were like 6 or 7 bands playing (couldn't tell you who else, I was there to see Jeff Beck). Anyway, about midway through Freeway Jam, there's a murmor that runs through the crowd and I turn around and look up, and there's a section of about 30 or 40 seats in the upper deck that are ON FIRE.
You could see the entire band nervously looking up there as they're playing, wondering whether they should evacuate. They played on, the fire was extinguished and a great time was had by all.
Oh yeah, I strayed from the point: I agree that at Jeff and Joe's level, any preference comes down to a matter of taste.

I can't argue with that, there's a couple of tunes on there I like a lot, though. You always have to pick and choose with Beck, on all of his albums.
The last few before Jeff had some nice guitar work, and that live CD you could only get from his website is pretty killer.
