Topic: Muncie, IN Show 10/30 Check-in- And A request For Joe

I just ordered my tickets for the October 30th show in Muncie, IN....

So how many of my fellow Hoosiers are showing up? I'll be with my wife and a close friend. This friend is hooked since I took him to Joe's (Rib America) show here in August. It's only a 45 minute drive up I-69 for us.

If we get there early enough maybe we can all met up for a beer or two? (Feel free to e-mail me)

Now, onto my request, if at all possible.  Damn,  if Joe isn't the best electric slide player to come along since Duane Allman I don't know who is.  "The River" On "Live At Rockaplast" DVD cements that opinion for me.... I just sit there mesmerized, thinking "Holy **##!, That's INSANELY GOOD!"

I know Joe's  promoting Sloe Gin (LOVE IT!) but I'd really, really, REALLY like to hear "The River" or one smokin' slide song in that mix somewhere.  So what do you think Joe??? Can you oblige *one* smokin' slide song in the setlist for a die-hard fan??

FWIW the more I hear Sloe Gin the more I'm impressed.  "Seagull", "Black Night" of course 'Sloe Gin" really works for me as one of his best CD's yet. Keep doing what you love best, Joe. I'll be there!

See you all in Muncie! smile

Yours truly,
Firin' Frank

I hear you Frank, "the river'" is my favorite song ever by Joe, I thought the same thing you did when i saw it on the DVD. It got even better last week, i had Joe sign this huge poster for me. I saw he was sliding on it, so i ask him " is that the river, your playing", his reply " yes it is, that picture was taken in Rotterdam a few years ago". I was beeming inside, never in my wildest dreams did i ever think I'd meet the man one day, and have him sign my user name on the "BADDEST POSTER", you will ever see! I think I'll put the picture of it on the forum, after i frame it. I'm also a huge fan of "black night".

Hey Frank!  How did I miss this post, but more importantly, how did I miss you at Ribfest??  Were you in the seated area, or hanging out under the shade of a tree on that sweltering afternoon?  My 16 year old  daughter and I stood at the left side of the stage, with Joe right in front of us for the whole show.

She is now a Bonafide Bonamaniac, and at her insistence we're heading to the Muncie show.  She had me ordering the tickets straight away that week.  Kinda odd that it's a general admission show in a seated theatre, don't you think?  I told her we'd head up to Muncie as soon as we're both out of school, but she's afraid that won't be soon enough to get in the front row.  Ok...she's spoiled after seeing Joe up close and personal!  She's already counting down the days.   Hope to see you there.

Re: Muncie, IN Show 10/30 Check-in- And A request For Joe

Donna,

Yes, I was indeed hanging out under the only shade tree to the left of the stage. Dang, it was HOT!  I'd have gladly paid another $25 to sit in the VIP seats up front though... You were probably looking for my bald head which was covered with a baseball cap on that hot day. I'm sure that's what threw you off!  smile  I thought you might be there, but honestly was kind of distracted because our son was having car problems at the MOST inconvenient time- a JB show. I was on & off the phone a bunch of times, and not terribly happy about it.

I brought my friend I've known since 7th grade who is now a bona-fide JB fan. He just couldn't believe how good Joe was and is really looking forward to the Muncie show.  It looks like we'll get up there just in time for the show. Just look for the ugly balding guy with a "You & Me" T-shirt accompanied by a nice-looking woman. That'll be me!

Speaking of that nice-looking woman you wouldn't believe how big of a JB fan she's become. But to understand the gravity of this you'll have to understand the kind of music she normally listens to. It's Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, 'new country" and other assorted sappy music of other genres. At the Ft. Wayne show during "Asking around for you" she whispered to me "Now I know why you like him so much!".

As for the general admission seating in Muncie I wasn't thrilled either but I'll just have to deal with it.  The acoustics will be better, the show will be longer and I think Joe will put his heart & soul into that show as usual.

Take care, and hope to see you there!
