Topic: Joe as a "Pop" artist???

I just read this review of Sloe Gin, which is very positive.
However, the reviewer refers to Joe as a "Pop" artist...I don't think I've heard anyone call Joe a Pop artist before.
Also, I think the author needs some writing lessons. There were a couple sentences that I re-read a few times and still don't know what was being said.

Bill,

I don't know about that, but Joe's show from Shank Hall last December that I have, sounds better on the compact desk stereo upstairs when I put the setting on "DISCO". I'm really not sure WHAT that means though??????

I think it's time you took a step back from the white suit and black shirt opened to the navel. Like DISCO is sooooooooooooooooo 70's man!

If I remember correctly when "Sloe Gin" was on i-tunes before the cd was out, it was labeled as pop...heck..call it what you want, just listen to it. The whole image of Joe on stage in some polyester outfit playing to screaming teens fills me with terror!!!! Cathy

Funny, I'm wearing an outfit like that for Halloween.

But seriously, if Joe becomes a million seller, technically, he would be pop. After all, pop is short for popular music.

I know that Pop was originally spawned from the word popular, but I think it has taken on a completely different connotation. Pop (at least in my mind) has become what used to be referred to as "bubble gum" music. Joe could sell a billion copies of Sloe Gin and I wouldn't call him a Pop Artist.

maybe if everyone just started calling him "pop" he would just get even more popular? I'm willing to try it.  A nice little trick...

If the abused term POP includes the non wimpy blues like Joe does 'em, then he's def POP!!! smile
