They may say you don't need it, but every time we've been on this cruise, they always look at your passport when they initially check you in and when you leave through customs after the cruise is over.

Natasha is absolutely correct you will need a passport. I have always been asked at customs at port. They asked on the Legends cruise last year and Joes cruise. Although I do not know if it is absolutly required if you do not leave the ship. But isn't where the ship registered considered the country you are in when you board? Will they not need a passport? I would double check with customs

Having not been on the cruise before, I have to wait to book.  Can those of you booking now tell me if there will be any cabins left by the time I can book or are they going like hotcakes?!

I think there will be plenty of cabins left. It's a big ship and last time it took a number of months for it to reach capacity. May not be many minisuites, or balconies. Hard to tell. Depends on what people first in line want. But there are a lot of cabins on board.

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

Just finished booking our mini suite that Cathy shares with us. Same cabin as the last 2 cruises so it will feel like home. Nice to see the prices have not increased. Really is quite a good deal when you think of everything you get: lodging, all you can eat 24 hours a day & music 11 am till midnight for 4 days.

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

I saw Kirk Fletcher last night in San Francisco and he said he was going to be on the cruise next year....hope he's right....BTW, his show last night was great.....next year is on a different ship, even though it is an exact duplicate to the Norwegian Pearl....

Hi Jane,
You may want to look into getting a passport card rather than a traditional passport.  I live in metro Detroit and we use the passport card to go back and forth by car and boat to Canada and when flying within the States. The card allows you to travel to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean via car or boat and it's much cheaper than a traditional passport - only $55.00 (v. $135.00) with a $30.00 renewal.  You can get more info at https://travel.state.gov/content/passpo … -Card.html

I hope you take the leap and join us on the 2017 cruise - you won't be sorry!
- Kelly

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

I want to hear from some of you about a thought I had about the cruise...most of the people on the cruise are die hard Joe fans who have seen him numerous times....for that reason, I was wondering what the rest of you would think about one of his shows on the boat be a show with a set list of old favorites like Mountain Time, Happier Times, and covers like Just Got Paid...We have all seen these songs in the past but I haven't seen them lately....we, as die hard fans, are all going to buy Joe's new music and will hear it at future live shows but the great older songs, we may never hear Joe perform again and I hate to think that way....what do you all think?

On this last cruise, the highlight for me was Joe playing the 3 piece set of older material. Glad he did a totally different second show. And the biggest thrill was "Are You Experienced". I feel like Mountain Time, Happier Times and Just Got Paid were played a lot in more recent years. Personally I would want him to dig deeper and do some things he hasn't done in many years or stuff he has never done before. He has so many songs in his catalogue, would love for him to totally surprise us with something we wouldn't expect.

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

I suspect things will be different this cruise since he will finish up the British three kings and the beginning of the year jumping into some BCC

I am wondering, does anyone know if you need a passport because it goes to Mexico?
Thanks

I hope you can make it Jane.  I've wanted to go since the first one but for one reason or another couldn't swing it.  We are so excited about going on this next one. smile

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

Woo hoo!  Just booked my cabin.  I look forward to the emails announcing the additions to the line-up.  It's like Christmas again and again . . .

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

Okay, I've got a cabin now!  Almost got cold feet but pulled the trigger.  Now I'm hoping the alums will share their tips and tricks about the cruise.

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

We're booked.  smile

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

Regarding the passport issue........just bring one. If you need it, you're covered. If not, no harm no foul.

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

Just received an email from KTBA Cruise folks due to ongoing health concerns Gregg Allman is not able to be there Bruce Hornsby has been added to the line up. Was looking forward to seeing Gregg Allman on the cruise hate to hear he is unable to make it but wish him a speedy recovery

Re: Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise 2017

I saw that too.  I love Greg Allman and hope he is able to get his health back on track.  It must be serious because he also is absent from the 2017 Wanee Festival in April which he never misses.  Anyway, I got my cruise confirmation number today and I'm really getting excited.  It will be here before we know it.  smile

I would like to ask any of you forum members who are going on the cruise in February to please go on the cruise fb page and give feed back on a post I posted...re: Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers...they are wonderful musicians but they are not blues musicians...they have been allotted a time and venue that is prime on the ship...I feel like there are other more worthy BLUES OR BLUES/ROCK artists on board who deserve the main stage and time slot more than a non-blues artist...please go on fb and post your feelings one way or the other as I may be dead wrong on this...sixthman deserves your input to determine if a schedule should be made...I have no problem with people who believe Hornsby deserves the slot, just go on fb and let them know...thank you...I really didn't want to bring this up but then I had to be honest with myself..I didn't fly across the continent and pay 5Gs to see a non-blues act take preference over some fine blues stars who can definitely rock that boat....
