Topic: Disappointed

I've been a fan of JB for many years. A few weeks back I was going to get tickets to see JB again and to my total disappointment, I saw the prices. $375.00 A ticket at the Hampton Beach Casino. So for myself and my woman $750.00 just to get in the door. Never mind a couple drinks at the show and your looking at $800 bucks for a couple hours. Sorry Joe. Now you are taking advantage of your fans. Very Disappointed

Re: Disappointed

Hi maque,

I'm sorry you're disappointed and your first post on this venerable forum is a complaint. The Hampton Casino is a comparatively small venue and the tickets you refer to are Platinum tickets priced by Ticketmaster as representing the value the market will bear. The fact that almost all tickets at this price and higher have been sold is testament to this policy.

This dynamic pricing policy is becoming more commonplace and was discussed in this topic thread a few weeks ago.

There are/were tickets at $125 and $99 on Ticketmaster, so buying a Platinum ticket is not the only way to see Joe at this venue.

Supply and demand rules.

Re: Disappointed

Well, this doesn't seem to be the only thread going with this topic, but as I've said before, the market dictates the price. Artists will charge what they are able to get for their tickets. Joe produces an amazing long set that delivers every time he performs. Because of this, he has developed a huge following, and many of these followers are of older age and in a great place financially. This affords Joe the luxury of charging premium prices for the best seats. Is 375 excessive ? Yes, for most of us, it is. But Joe Bonamassa has literally toured and released discs for 16 years straight. Does anyone have any idea how hard you must work to accomplish this? In my opinion, he's getting his just rewards after toiling away in every size bar possible, at 15 bucks a ticket, where sometimes only 50 people show up, for the first half of his career. I simply cannot fault Joe for the ticket prices he now charges... Thank the lord I saw him many times in the past !

Re: Disappointed

I always figure there are two choices when you see ticket prices: You buy them or you don't.

That goes for every level. Personally, I'd rather pay a bit more for good/decent seats than pay $75/$100 to sit in the back.
I'm headed to the show in Merrillville on Saturday, where I paid $185/ticket for four (4) 3rd row seats.
I will say it is the first time I've ever had a tinge of buyer's remorse after purchasing tickets to a JB show.

Re: Disappointed

I bought a ticket for this show back in the presale and it did not cost me $375.  I believe it was around $150 and it is in the fourth row.  Wooders is right in that platinum seats is now part of TM's business model and won't go away as long as tickets sell at that price.  Hampton Beach is quite small of a venue for Joe these days so I was surprised they weren't more.

Re: Disappointed

the Ticket Master premium seat pricing it just that.. someone could be seated right next to a seat costing 3x as much (ie: $128 vs $375)... Thanks to Ticket Master.

1- for up close rows.. you need to buy the first few minutes of a pre-sale event which usually takes place 6 months before the show. there you will find a bevy of price ranges.
if you try and buy months after a show has gone on sale, you'll not usually find great priced seats except those near the back.

2- Don't go by Ticket Master Premium seat pricing..

I just looked and the range of price of tickets for the Friday night ranged from $95-$150.. those sold out as we are only 2 weeks from the show months ago.
as you noted there are only high priced $475 premium seats.

His fall shows (Nov 2016-Dec2016) has already gone past the pre-sale back at the start of April and have long since gone into public sale. don't see any shows near NH in the list,, but heck I'm not sure what close to you.
Next Pre-Sale madness will be around the start of Oct2016 for shows in the April-May2017 run.
check back often and you may find a show close to you in pre-sale that you can afford.

Do not get discouraged you simply waited to late. If you get on the presale you would have made out. If I had a few extra I would throw them your way. I did a few days ago but they are gone. Like others have said the presale is months before the event. You need to be ready if you want good seats at a good price.
I hope you get to the next show.
