Topic: Janis Joplin - American Masters on PBS Doc tonight 5/3

I didn't see a Thread just devoted to Janis Joplin ... (I'll edit down the Thread Title to just her name in a day or two.)

Read PBS is premiering a 2 hour documentary on Janis Joplin this evening (Tues 5/3/16) here in the US ... most stations airing it a 8 pm EST.  (In searching for her here ... I did see where BansheeUK mentioned this doc airing on the BBC back in March.)

Here's the American Masters / PBS web link:
American Masters – Janis: Little Girl Blue premieres nationwide Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 8/7c on PBS (check local schedule) as part of the 30th anniversary season of THIRTEEN’s American Masters series.

"I was in Space for less than 2 weeks … and suddenly Jeaniene’s back … half the Band is off the gd wagon … we have comedians opening for us … and the nice kid that ran our website is now a kleptof’nmaniac.  Boy ... did you guys miss me!!"  Phil Valentine - Road Manager - Staton House Band

Re: Janis Joplin - American Masters on PBS Doc tonight 5/3

Yeah I caught it on PBS 'Little Girl Blue' and just couldn't make it to the end. Saddest thing I've seen in a long time. Those were troubled and turbulent times and she was definitely troubled. Kind of reminded me of when Shawn Colvin got her Grammy for the CD 'A Few Small Repairs' and when the crowd applauded she looked out in awe and said "You like me?" Some people, in reality I don't think ANY people but that's another story, can't handle fame. Janis wasn't even able to define it or wrap her head around it. She made it big and it cost her her young life. What a tragedy.
