Google tells me the run of those was to be 150 guitars, but only 40 were made: http://www.guitarscollector.com/1996--- … y--sg.html

That's 40 too many.

Well, many would disagree! These are ultra rare and highly sought after. I think what you meant to say was, I don't care for them.

No, what I meant to say was that was 40 too many.  They stopped at 40 instead of 100 for a reason.  There have been more "mistakes" made on the SG design, like the "Corvette", than on any other Gibson.  Next stupid idea they  have they should build on an R9.

I admit, I have no idea what you're point is.

It's a damn ugly guitar, the waste of an SG body and the next time they want to make a piece of garbage they should consider an R59 body and maybe they'll scrap the idea.

Re: Never Seen One,Maybe Joe has one.

I would take one in white in a heartbeat. I think if you read the story behind them,it was a good idea,to combine one of the baddest guitars ever made, and a world wide iconic car. I've built an odd guitar or two in the past, some folks don't get the idea, some can't take it home fast enough.

sometimes things become a collectable not because how popular or beautiful they are but for how ugly and unpopular the are.
Like a dollar bill made incorrectly...sometimes it takes forward thinking to turn a turd into gold. So you buy it hold onto it and hoping forward it will turn into that piece of gold. Whats ugly to you is $$ to others. one never knows
my two cents
