Topic: Where Would You Ask Joe To Sign Your Guitar?

Just curious if Joe signed your guitar, where would you have it signed?

Front on the top or back of the headstock?

Joe signed my LP on the back of the headstock. Personally I would never have any signatures on the body, to me its tacky, and the signature is subject to wear if the guitar is going to be played.

How I’d love to see you smile....

If it has a pickguard, then definitely the pickguard.  Easy to spray over to seal without causing any damage to the guitar, and easy to replace the part if you don't want it there or you sell the guitar and the buyer doesn't want the sig.  If that's not an option, then the back of the headstock.

And if u have a control cavity on the back ... the cover ... similar removable option as pick guard ... if main intention is not to display the guitar (and see the signature.)  PG or CP cover are nice naturally because u can keep Joe's sig in the event u decide to part with the guitar.

Good luck and enjoy ... looking forward to your signature story!!

PS ... you didn't mention the type of guitar ... if it's any of the Joe models ... then ON the guitar is the proper thing to do! smile

Re: Where Would You Ask Joe To Sign Your Guitar?

At an earlier M&G, I had Joe sign the back of the headstock of a Pelham Blue signature Epi Les Paul. He initially went to sign the body, but I think for a guitar that will be a player, the back of the headstock makes a bit more sense.

I have a M&G at PPAC in May, and plan on bringing a couple of gibson truss rod covers.

Re: Where Would You Ask Joe To Sign Your Guitar?

Thanks for your comments everyone. I have a while to think about it as the M&G won't be until November.

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

Re: Where Would You Ask Joe To Sign Your Guitar?

I don't know about getting the actual body of the guitar signed, If I had the oppertunity I would probably just get the pickguard signed.

Re: Where Would You Ask Joe To Sign Your Guitar?

That's how Joe signed mine. So spare one attached and signed one kept safe in the case. big_smile

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Where Would You Ask Joe To Sign Your Guitar?

I don't like people signing guitars, however, if someone does it then the pick-guard is probably the best place.

I have one of the Bonamassa LPs, I bought from a friend, who managed to get Joe to sign the pick-guard.  It does tend to annoy me a bit, so have been trying to get a black pick-guard but all of the ones I bought never seem to fit.  I thought it was supposed to be based on a 57 LP, but even the one off my R7 doesn't fit.

I tried contacting Gibson, but they have been unable to give me a part number to order.  They said they would do some research and get back to me.....way back in Sep 2013.  smile
