Re: Joe on tv

That was a pretty cool show......I loved the green GTX also.

Pretty impressive guitar collection that Mr. Hendrick had, also.

Re: Joe on tv

For those that missed it, and from the lack of comment there were many,  I hope you can catch a  re-run. Some of you fans at the show in Spartanburg are probably on it as well in the crowd shots of him playing. This was no cameo, it was a half hour special all about him paying it back,  featuring Joe, Roy, Deb and Len. It showed what a caring man he is and highlighted his career, his passions and was chock full of relaxed talk, not to mention some great spots of him playing. No doubt in my mind now what inspired him to write Drive. Deb and Len cruising down the road in that cool lime green GTX he surprised them with was just too cool for words with Drive playing.
You players will be drooling over the "Man Cave" of Mr. Hendrix built around his insane guitar collection, including a glass floor with priceless guitars displayed underneath as well as all around. Joe met his match in collector mania.
The name of the segment is "Smokin' Joe's GTX".
Rick

ps, It was pretty nice seeing him referred to as "Blues Guitar Legend".

Re: Joe on tv

Well a number of us don't have cable and therefore we couldn't see it. And it doesn't look like their website airs any full recent shows. Hopefully J&R will release it as a video so that we might all get a chance to watch it.

It's available from Amazon streaming,  $1.99 for the SD version and & 2.99 for the HD.  If you've cut the cord you do stream,  correct?

Ok, that was the coolest half hour of tv ..ever....I loved his parents reaction to the car and seeing Rick HendricKS guitar colllection.

Re: Joe on tv

I haven't enjoyed a tv show as much as that one in a very long time.

Sandy

Was it just me or did Joe look a bit nervous being a passenger?

Re: Joe on tv

That was so cool! With the lovely pictures, the nice introduction of Joe to the watchers, the relaxed talking and so on. A lot of new ppl will know Joe now!
I didn't get the joke about the radio and his dad. Little help?

Re: Joe on tv

Without quoting the last two posts (I'm on a phone)
Yes it looked like Joe was a little terrified at being a passenger and the joke was that the radio had an option to plug a microphone into it and you could sing along,  apparently Len can't sing according to Joe....

That ancient radio had a place to plug in a microphone. They joked about it being the first karaoke and Joe said he couldn't imagine riding along with his dad singing.

AmeriCarna posted up a little 3 min bonus footage of Joe playing (portion shown on show) along with scenes of the car collection in the Hendrick building.

Re: Joe on tv

Speaking for myself, the idea of driving a high powered MOPAR is almost as exciting as the idea of playing a nice, broken in, Les Paul Standard.  Great cars and old guitars...life couldn't get much better.
