Topic: Joe's gear on upcoming UK dates

Do we know what rig Joe is using these days for uk dates? Does he bring vintage guitars, Bursts etc? What back line? Is it still the tweed set up? I'm trying to find a way to get to a show this time.

Re: Joe's gear on upcoming UK dates

Will be particularly interesting as Beck and Clapton both made their names playing Gibsons but now favour their signature Strats and I believe I'm right in saying that Page used a Telecaster on a lot of the early LZ stuff.

I'm not expecting to see Joe bringing out a Beck or Clapton Strat (though it wouldn't surprise me if he has more than 1 of each being the guitar lover he is), but maybe a good mix of old Les Pauls (The Beast anyone) and old Fenders....

Guitars: Fender American Original 60s Strat, Fender American Vintage 52 Tele, Gibson Les Paul Traditional
FX: Various including - Ceriatone Centura, Fire Custom Shop Carpe Diem
Amp: Fender ML212 Deville + 212 extention cabinet

I'm hoping there will be a Marshall on stage when I see him at the Colston Hall in Bristol!

Re: Joe's gear on upcoming UK dates

I have to agree re the Marshalls. I do miss that sound. big_smile

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: Joe's gear on upcoming UK dates

If you watch the series of videos shot for Blues of Desperation, Joe states that he has to use his hands more to get the tone he wants out of the Fender Twins.

That growl he gets from them is him,
So don't expect Marshall, Category 5, dumble, etc in the spring

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

Re: Joe's gear on upcoming UK dates

I don't know. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Marshall Bluesbreaker combo on stage....I mean that plus a Les Paul IS the sound of the British Blues Explosion..!!

Guitars: Fender American Original 60s Strat, Fender American Vintage 52 Tele, Gibson Les Paul Traditional
FX: Various including - Ceriatone Centura, Fire Custom Shop Carpe Diem
Amp: Fender ML212 Deville + 212 extention cabinet

Re: Joe's gear on upcoming UK dates

there is a difference from the UK tour dates pending right after Germany vs the British 3 Kings tour this summer

he might just break out the Marshall's for that.

Re: Joe's gear on upcoming UK dates

Ah yes, that was what I meant!!

Hoping and praying that they still have tickets to the Greenwich 3 Kings concert when I can afford them in early April...

How would I find out if there is a meet and greet for that gig?

Guitars: Fender American Original 60s Strat, Fender American Vintage 52 Tele, Gibson Les Paul Traditional
FX: Various including - Ceriatone Centura, Fire Custom Shop Carpe Diem
Amp: Fender ML212 Deville + 212 extention cabinet

Re: Joe's gear on upcoming UK dates

Im Hoping he will put out the Marshalls again for the Summertour. I would really like to see a Paired Jubilee/Tweed Fender rig that has maybe been simplified. We could have the best of both worlds.

Guitars: Gibson 2015 LP Traditional in Honeyburst, Gibson LP Studio Deluxe, Fender American Deluxe Telecaster, MIM Fender Strat with Dimarzio Areas, MIM Fender Hss Strat,  Epiphone Sheraton II, Breedlove Acoustic
Amplitube 4 with Scarlett 6i6 and 2i4 interfaces through studio monitors.

Thinking out of the box. . .

It will be the tweeds, but with some Marshall stage decorations! lol.

Hey Gar,
I saw him just this weekend (19th March 2016) in Birmingham!

Here is what I know/think, some other board members may be able to help elaborate...

Amps:
Two 1959 Fender Twin Reverb Combhos
Two 1958 Bassmans Combos

Effects (not sure but know he's changed it up a lot):
Signature Dunlop Wah
Custom made boost pedal by Jeorge Tripps
Not sure of the rest now...someone may know better than me...  Think he is playing pretty dry these days.

Guitars:
1959 Les Paul (Spot with the white pickups).
195? Les Paul (unsure it's not Principal Skinner or Magellan unless he's changed the pick-ups, it has black pickups).
Gibson Les Paul, tomato soup signature perhaps, unsure (with his name along the neck)? Looks to have a quilted maple top.
1958 Gibson Flying V - Bought from Norms rare guitars.
Gibson Custom Shop Bonabyrd
Gibson ES 335 Bonamassa Signature, Vintage Sunburst  (with his name along neck as inlays)
Gibson ES 3?? Bonamassa Signature, Black (again with his name along the neck, a hat tip to B.B. Kings Lucille perhaps?)
Post 65? Fender Strat in red
Pre 65? Fender Strat in Tobacco burst.

Think that most of them!

He rocked man.  What a show and what a guy.  I only wish that I could have got the words out of my mouth properly to thank him when I met him, there just wasn't enough time and I was pretty damn nervous! smile
