Topic: Gonna catch The Boss Fri.

J Dawg and Shred are off to see Springsteen Fri. night in Oakland thanks to a good friend of mine having conflicting engagements that night. Neither of us have seen The Boss before, but it's a freeby so what the hell. I find it a great chance to see one of my all-time guitar favorites Nils Lofgren perform, I know he's gotta play Bruce tunes, but hell a guys gotta work right. I ditched my original plan to see the Volker Strifler Band with Daryl aka Bluezman which should be quite a party since they just got the nod in 6 categories to be final nominees for this years grammy awards. It never fails everything happens on the same night, but Volker is based in the Bay Area and I'll see them later. I expect to be overwhelmed by The Boss and his fan base since his fans consider him the second coming of Christ. If anybody has some feedback especially if you may have caught this tour fill us in please.

You're going to have a great time. It's been years, but I've seen them twice. They've played together for so long they're very tight and it's a high energy show. The East Coast is well represented!  Stay out of trouble! LOL!!!!!          Cathy

That's why the $7.99 six pack of Heineken in the parking lot tasted soooooo much better, even the pretzels were more savory than the $6.00 regular hot dog I had inside. I even hedged on the merchandise by scoring a t-shirt for my buddy Paul that gave us the tix, for $10.00 in the lot when Shred forked out $75.00 for 2 shirts inside.Bruce plays himself off as a man of the people, but his shows will bankrupt the common man. I fully agree with Shred that I would never have paid that kind of money for what we got in return, but I'm lucky to have lots of big hearted friends who have shown me love on levels I've never experienced during this crisis period in my life for which I'm eternally grateful. The Boss did plenty of political ranting throughout the evening, but considering the state of the political machine in this country that's not such a bad thing. There was no lack of passion in his set, all in all it was worth the experience, oh yeah Nils absolutely smoked on guitar!!!!

*WINK* Sorry, I don't wanna be the Devil's Advocate here, but can I say I prefer Patti Scialfa and Little Steven (who is doing good for the cause of psychedelic and garage music)to The Boss??! I like Gypsy Biker off his new album though ....:)...
