Re: Davy Knowles
I am going to need to pick up some albums of davy....anybody have any good suggestions.
I have both the Roll Away album by Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam, plus Davy's Coming Up for Air solo CD. Both are excellent.

He has an album called Davy Knowles and Back Door Slam live from Austrailia that I always have on my rotation! Definitely recommend that one
Thanks!

Davy's latest album is called The Outsider (2015) and features all new studio material. The guy is an absolutely amazing singer, songwriter/lyricist, and guitar player.
I had the pleasure of seeing him live 11 days ago at an intimate venue in Denver called the Soiled Dove Underground. We had great seats at an elevated bar 20-25 ft from the stage. His solos have the same effect on me that Joe's do... they just take you someplace else and make you lose track of time. At $15 a seat I felt like I was cheating, especially considering he had a very talented band called Hollis Brown open for him. They were opening up for The Counting Crows at Red Rocks the next night.
I can't wait to see Davy again on the cruise in February.

Davy just did a 100 minute interview / performance on madhousetv.com the other night. He plays quite a few songs from a new album he just finished as well as some of his better known songs from previous albums.
Here's a link to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLNN-p8vva0

Just got home from seeing Davy play 2 shows at the Iridium in NYC. What a wonderful time we had. Davy just finished the studio work on a new album and we were treated to some of his new songs. He also changed up his guitars, no PRS and instead played a 2004 Red Tele and a Rory Gallagher Strat with the middle pick up missing. He said he didn't need that pick up anyway He felt he needed a change so as not to get stuck in a rut and he is absolutely loving the clean tones of the Tele. It sounded fantastic. On the first night, a bass player from Bejing, named Ling Zhang, sat in on two songs, a really cool funky version of "The Thrill Is Gone" which he sang, and "Tear Down The Walls". He was in New York to work on a blues album he is doing and had last been in the States 10 years ago. Davy sounded and played great. The first night we sat about halfway back in hopes of good sound and view, but unfortunately the stage was pretty dim and the videos are not as crisp and detailed as I would have liked. The sound is fantastic and probably no one would notice any issues, but I am a bit OCD about these things. The second night I sat right in front of Davy which could sometimes cause sound issues, but thankfully the sound was great. Those videos are quite crisp and detailed. It was great to be that close to watch his hands as he played. The setlists both nights were slightly different and the encores for each night were a really special treat. A wonderful slow blues ""What In The World" the first night and Bob Dylan's beautiful "Don't Think Twice It's All Right" the second night. All in all 2 fantastic shows and a great time hanging with Davy and his band. Such a fun group of guys with a wonderful sense of humor

Just finished uploading the show Davy did in Sellersville, PA on January 13th as a full 1 hr 40 min recording with improved audio over the original videos. Really liked the setlist he played at this show. It featured such a wonderful mix of songs and love the fact he played four acoustic ones. He is a fantastic acoustic player and when he plays this way it really showcases his incredible voice. So, check it out if you are interested.

We saw Davy in Lombard, IL last night.
There were 2 of our group of 6 that had never seen Davy in person.
They are now fans for life.
There may be a road trip to Shank Hall in Milwaukee...one of Joe's old haunts.
Saw Davy several months ago here in Denver and absolutely loved it. Looking forward to seeing him again in June at the Greeley Blues Jam.
Can anyone tell me where "Ain't much of nothin" is from. I don't see it on his back catalog.
I saw Davy Last Friday & was the best 12 dollars a ticket I paid in a long time....super cool guy, great voice & stellar guitar...:)
Davy will be here in Sacramento this sat.......thinks me might make it.....I hear they have cold beer!!
