Topic: OX4 Pickups

What can people tell me about OX4 PAF humbuckers? I'd never heard of them!!

Considering a used LP which has them in. How do they compare to Bareknuckle Mules for example?

I do not have a set of bare knuckles but I do have OX4. They are slighter darker then regular PAF

Re: OX4 Pickups

I have two sets. One of his PAFs and one set of his Hot Duanes. They are superior to every other pickup. Mark is fantastic to deal with. I wouldn't have any other humbucker in my Les Pauls. I replaced my Bare Knuckle Mule sets with these and the difference is significant. You can go wrong. All hail OX4!
He is just beginning to make single coils now and will have a nice new fancy site up and running in the next couple of weeks.
Go for it.

Re: OX4 Pickups

OX4's are great pickups, and Mark is great to deal with. I have an aged AFD that was done for me, and I put a set of OX's in it......great stuff.

Re: OX4 Pickups

I may have a set of Double cream Hot Duane's for sale in the next week or so...if anyone is interested? I'm going to get Mark to wind me a lower output set, so it matches my other Lester.

Re: OX4 Pickups

I bought a used CR8 and it was fitted with OX4 pickups.  Best sounding les Paul I ever bought. The guitar itself had a very good acoustic sound.  Brian Monty built me a nice BLUESQUEEN (335 type but carved top and back) and I put OX4 Low wind Dicky Betts and I love the sound. Very articulate pickups and they do very well with a cranked Marshall type amp. And Mark is a gentleman too.
