Topic: What would JB have done?

I just ordered a beautiful new Heritage Cherry Sunburst Standard 2016 T- it will arrive in a couple of days. BUT... I stopped at a local vintage guitar shop here in Norway just today and found a 1977 LP Deluxe - gold top. Playing it feels like a million bucks and will cost me about 700 USD less than the new I ordered. I am able to return the new guitar.
Argh.... don't know what to do.... the '77 is 'player grade' and has cracks in the paint across front and back. But it's all original. Norlin, but...
What would Joe have done? (that is if he only had my resources to shop for wink )

Re: What would JB have done?

Keep both and become a collector. I started playing guitar in 1976, and I've only sold one guitar. The only reason I sold it was because I couldn't play it, it was too narrow at the nut. Now, forty years later I have a nice little collection, all playable guitars that I like. BTW, nothing wrong with having a burst and a Gold Top, I do.

Play some cards & drink black coffee,
How Iā€™d love to see you smile....

I wish Rusty. I still haven't told my wife about the $3500 I spent on the new Standard. I'll have some splainin' to do when it all of a sudden appears on Monday.   I just can't afford to keep both LP's hmm

Keep the '77. Sell the Sunburst for as much as you can, After all, it is brand new. Oh, and don't tell the wife !!

Re: What would JB have done?

I ended up returning the 2016 T and bought a used 2001 Custom shop Les Paul R7 (reissue 57) gold top. It has been set up by one of Norway's best luthiers and is gorgeous. 2001 was a great year for Gibson. A little pricey ... but of course - wife thought I bought an old used guitar - which I actually did wink
