Joe's solo on Song of Yesterday

I don't know how long it took Joe to write the solo to Song of Yesterday or if much of it is improvised. What I do know is that is some of the most awesome playing I've ever heard.

I listen to a whole lot of metal so it's common place to hear a shredding solo in the middle of every song. What Joe played played on SOY makes so many of those metal shredders sound like amateurs. This is coming from somebody who lives heavy metal. Joe's got it going on.

One piece I'd LOVE to hear Joe play is Paganini's 5th caprice (song by Vai in the movie Crossroads).
