Re: Joe to close the Chesapeak Bay Blues Fest

Truly fantastic news! I almost died when I got the email from the Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival. Never did I think Joe would be playing it and right in the middle of his regular tour.  Man, he is busy.  No doubt tickets for the festival will sell quick. The VIP option is pricey, but at least it is a tax deductible charity event and they give you food, drink, good parking and a fenced off area up by the stage.

This was an unexpected & friggin' awesome addition to Joe's spring tour appearances.  Tickets for Sunday acquired, can't wait.

Re: Joe to close the Chesapeak Bay Blues Fest

Whoever is going tomorrow to the festival, be warned. It is a mud pit. We were there today. It rained all day long and the field has turned into an absolute mess in a number of places, especially right up front near the stage and where the food vendors are. Wear waterproof shoes that go past your ankles because in a number of places you will sink into mud many inches deep. And be sure to wear adequate rain gear because it is not supposed to stop raining until Tuesday. And keep in mind the temperatures are in the high 50's to low 60's. I think the event people are going to try and put down straw where the mud is the worse. And if you read this Joe, be aware that you're gear and everyone on stage will get wet to some degree. The stage is covered, which kept the majority of the rain off the performers, but they still kept wiping their instruments down with towels. Luckily it wasn't pouring, but it was definitely a steady light to moderate amount.  All of the acts were cut shorter than they normally would have played because it took a while to prepare the stage in the beginning so things started late and then they had to squeegee the water off the stage in between each performance which takes a little bit of time. We just went out and got some rain pants so we will be better prepared for tomorrow.

Feel bad for Joe .. doesn't need this kind of weather right now.

Hope tomorrow goes better than expected for everyone.

Re: Joe to close the Chesapeak Bay Blues Fest

*Sigh* We were going to head down earlier today, but with the non-stop month and a half of rain not letting up we're now shooting to show up just before Joe starts & sit way back somewhere, to minimize the amount of time slogging around in the mud & standing/sitting in the cool rain.  I guess the thing to do is show up at the Naval Academy stadium, wait around for a shuttle, and then get there whenever.  Hopefully the wait to get a shuttle/bus out of there when Joe is done won't be forever.
