Topic: just watched Black Country Communion on DVD...WOW!!!

A very nice person here on the forum recommended I listen to Black Country Communion.  Other than listening to Joe, my taste in music lies directly in the middle of the heavy metal genre i.e. Slipknot, Children of Bodom, Machine Head, etc.  Don't worry, I don't expect anyone here to know anything about those bands.

Anyway, I was sort of reluctant to give BCC a try.  But, I am very happy, indeed, that I took the advice I was given and gave BCC a listen.  Such a great band.  Watching them perform reminded me of how awesome a band can be live when you put the right group of musicians together.

A lot of us here on the Forum saw BCC live. Lets just say it didn't end well.

Glenn Hughes wanted to tour big time, Joe couldn't. It's well documented on the Internet.

Man I still crave more of em.
But 3 excellent studio albums plus the live is a nice legacy
I don't know if the whole BCC thing soured Joe on playing "hard rock" style music ,but he is great at it.
I have been wishing that at some point he does a side project along those lines again.doesnt matter with who.

Your rock candy baby

Ya, I would love to hear Joe play some harder edge music. But, he is such a fantastic guitarist that he makes whatever he plays sound amazing.

Amen and dittos to this for sure.  I'd LOVE to hear more of Joe doing BCC kinds of material.  Some of his best IMHO, without a doubt.  Love all 3 BCC CDs.

yeah as much as i loved the music and the 'genre' for Joe, its not going to make a come back but i do still enjoy the tunes

I am wondering though if you had any further comments JHLesPaul59 on the sound particularly on the Song of Yesterday since you had mentioned something about Fire and Water @ the beacon. I'd not done a comparison mostly cause like i said before i am not that 'tuned' in to subtle distinctions all the time but was wondering your opinion and BTW it took you long enough LOL

They are both great songs but I have to give the nod to Fire and Water with Rodgers on vocals. Joe's playing on Song of Yesterday is something special. It's one of those solos every guitarist should aspire to achieve.

thanks. i was asking cause i thought you had specifically mentioned in another thread about the guitar tone Fire and Water Beacon being the ultimate or something so i was wondering your opinion on the tone on SOY LOE more than the song itself. not a big deal as like i said it takes a lot for me to be able to notice much in that regard but IIRC others had commented on that tone so i was wondering your opinion

It is so difficult to single out one specific song when discussing Joe and great guitar tone.  He is able to consistently play with such awe inspiring tone and feeling.  I guess that is one of the main reasons his music and live performances inspire so many people.
