Topic: Keeping The Blues Alive at Sea Cruise 2017 Forum Meet & Greet!

I’ve really enjoyed reading the KTBA 2016 thread and hearing about all the great bands that were there and eventually I’ll find the time to watch some of Natasha’s videos. Thank you, Natasha, you're amazing. I know how painful it can be to stand holding a camera for hours while your body's in a contorted position. Your pain is definitely our gain and we thank you. smile

While reading the various posts from those who were there, a frequent comment was about not seeing, or not having time to speak to, other Forum members.  It occurred to me that there must be a simple solution to this. I’ve not been on a cruise and it’s extremely unlikely I’ll be at KTBA 2017, but on the basis that the ship is just a floating hotel, it surely shouldn’t be too difficult to organise a list of attendees from the Forum beforehand and a place (bar) and day/time to meet. Those who’ve already done the KTBA cruise will be best placed to know which bar or area would be most suitable/appropriate. I should think the first day would be a good time to meet as everyone will still be fresh and excited about what’s to come. You’ll also be able to organise which shows to go to and with whom.

If I were going I’d organise it and you never know, Joe may attend as he did in London in 2009, when Michael and I put together the RAH after show party for the Forum.

I look forward to seeing the group photos this time next year! 

It would be grand if you came along Phil. There was a gathering for the FB group but in all honesty there just isn't time for meetings if you want to catch as many shows as possible. Our small group didn't always see each other for hours. lol You get the schedule, you pick your shows and you're off! Ron tried to have a gathering in his suite and we couldn't even get that together. IF you come on the next one and organize a meeting I will commit to going, but I may only be there briefly. SO much music, so little time. I can say we even resented needing food! lol

Hi Cathy,

Thanks for replying. It was lovely to see you in the photos of the cruise this year.
If it really is that frenetic I would be running around to be the first in the queue at each show as usual. lol Sadly, there's not much chance of me being there. sad

It's a shame that there isn't any time for a forum get together. I've often thought that it would be good to have a Forum meet at every gig as it might encourage people to post on the Forum more frequently. Despite Joe's popularity, it's a bit quiet round here nowadays compared to the 'old days'.

I hope to catch up with you in person again someday.

I wasn't able to make the cruise this year but I did attend the 2015 edition...I would think the best or only time to meet like this would be a morning get together...music usually didn't start til noonish or later....I'm going to make a strong effort to be there next year and I think this is a good idea if for no other reason than to put a face to a name....
