He also broke a string halfway through the song. He and Mike are consummate professionals as is evidenced by how smoothly Mike brought out a new guitar and Joe plugged in without hardly missing a note right in the middle of Joe's solo. We were all very impressed. Hesitated about putting this up, but Joe's solos are just incredible on this version and he did that volume swell thing at the beginning. It really was a fantastic rendition of the song. I can't even imagine how frustrating it must be to deal with elements beyond your control while you are performing. Joe takes it all in stride and handles it like the professional he is. Very admirable.

The vocals were perfect further from the stage. Up close is great for video but not so much for the mix. I believe Joe was not using a baffle for the Beth Hart show so you were getting the full onslaught of the Hi Power Twin wink

Just a suggestion the new Zoom vid cameras have XLR inputs so if you could ever convince when you are up front for a show to give you the house left right output the audio would be perfect every time.

Inside information or just a hunch? Not a big Strat player but unless it's a Custom Shop, should be a lot more affordable then the recent run of Gibsons. Don't want to get to off topic but did you ever change you mind on a Bonabyrd Ron? Reverb has one with a 6500 list but they say make an offer.

Joe is pretty relaxed with his video policy but even he would draw the line at a board fed video capture. At some point you have to realize that to feel like you were there you have to actually be there. I love having the ability to see the performances I am unable to attend or was able to and then can relive the experience  through the audience taping but Joe does go to great expense to produce outstanding BluRay's of his monumental events such as Muddy Wolf, The Three Kings and yes even Beth Hart at the Carre. I think we need to be happy some great video even with the sound being determined by the location it was filmed from and the quality of the camera itself determining the eq of the over all sound.

The cruise this year had some special moments for the die hard Bonamassa fans with the debuts of electric performances of 4 new tracks along with bits and pieces of the Three Kings set and the only performance in the America's of Joe/Beth and the Power Trio set previously only seen at the Borderline in the UK. Getting to see all this live was a spectacular experience and seeing Natasha's video's for the hardcore fans who just couldn't be there is a special treat. A lot has changed since the 2009 RAH show when a few of us made the trip over to see that live and we had some live tweets of the set list, (your welcome) and some video surfaced all less than perfect captures of the event only to be rewarded with the official release a few months later that was in my opinion one of the best concert video's I have ever seen and things changed in Bonamassa world.

In the case of the cruise there is no official release to look forward to so we have the videos that Natasha took great effort to capture. However I feel that to get a perfect capture or experience you simply should have to be there. Or in the case of Carnegie Hall, Radio City you should have to buy the Bluray. Thanks Natasha for getting there early and up close since our dinner caused me to miss the first 4 songs of the power trio and if it was a little unbalanced mix I forgive you. wink

Yeah, I would never ask to plug into the soundboard.  That's kind of going beyond and don't want to step on anyone's toes.  Plus, to me soundboard recordings always feel kind of sterile. I like to hear an audience. Phil's audio picks up Beth's vocals much better and if I can motivate myself and figure out the video editor program I just got, then maybe I can synch the two. These editor programs are quite daunting to learn and I envision many hours of yelling at the computer while trying to figure it all out. In the meantime, I have what I have. Festival type shows are always tricky. You have wind and a flat floor which makes it impossible for me to see the stage if I am not up front. There is something special about being up front and I swear Joe is drawn to the camera. I think he played 95% of his solos right smack in front of me and for that I will sacrifice perfect sound wink

We had a fantastic time. The meet and greet was great. After I got my phone back I told him Annie's story and he talked about the golden he had growing up. I later showed him the photo of me holding the 59 Les Paul "Goldie" that I had the pleasure of playing last year.

The discussion with Norman Harris was great. I met norm two years ago at his shop on my 60th birthday.  I bought the last copy of his first book and everyone in the shop signed it with birthday wishes.  I ran into him again on the boat with his wife and introduced my wife to them. We chatted for about 15 minutes before everyone had to move on. Cool guy.

Also had the pleasure of meeting Ron (cindyron) before Norm's talk and having a fun conversation about guitars.

The Beth Hart Q&A was really great.  It is rare to hear an artist open up to the audience like she did. She is phenomenal.

The music of course was awesome.  It was hard to believe we were out in the middle of the ocean listening to Joe and Beth.

It was all a bit overwhelming but so much fun. Almost too much music and definitely too much food. LOL Hope we can do it again in the future.

The cruise this year had some special moments for the die hard Bonamassa fans with the debuts of electric performances of 4 new tracks along with bits and pieces of the Three Kings set and the only performance in the America's of Joe/Beth and the Power Trio set previously only seen at the Borderline in the UK. Getting to see all this live was a spectacular experience and seeing Natasha's video's for the hardcore fans who just couldn't be there is a special treat. A lot has changed since the 2009 RAH show when a few of us made the trip over to see that live and we had some live tweets of the set list, (your welcome) and some video surfaced all less than perfect captures of the event only to be rewarded with the official release a few months later that was in my opinion one of the best concert video's I have ever seen and things changed in Bonamassa world.

In the case of the cruise there is no official release to look forward to so we have the videos that Natasha took great effort to capture. However I feel that to get a perfect capture or experience you simply should have to be there. Or in the case of Carnegie Hall, Radio City you should have to buy the Bluray. Thanks Natasha for getting there early and up close since our dinner caused me to miss the first 4 songs of the power trio and if it was a little unbalanced mix I forgive you. wink

Here are the songs from the first night's show. Not my best stuff. The winds were howling, the boat was rocking and the camera was having trouble with the lights. My battery ran out at near the end of "Blues of Desperation". It is was it is. Joe and the band gave a great performance. Really don't know how he managed with the winds and misty rain. It was like battle conditions. But they are all professionals and do a fantastic job no matter the conditions.
