Topic: 2012 Fender Custom Deluxe Cobalt

Howdy friends. I am new to this forum and new to electric guitars. I am hoping for good advice from you veteran players from time to time. I have been messing with guitars for 45 yrs. I say messing with because I have never put in the effort to be able to play like I dream of playing. I have only owned acoustic guitars in my life and have really enjoyed playing and accumulating various instruments. I have never owned a decent electric guitar, which brings me to my point. Today, I purchased from a small local shop that I have been doing business with for twenty yrs, a 2012 Fender Custom Deluxe Stratocaster and a Fender "68" Custom Princeton Reverb amp. The guitar is Translucent Cobalt Blue with Abby's" handwound single coil pickups by Abigail Ybarra. It is virtually brand new with no marks of any kind. I don't think it was played much. Now I know nothing about electric guitars and amps. I was looking for a guitar that was somewhat unique without spending a fortune.  When I am dead and gone, i would like my kids to at least get what I purchased the guitar and amp for should they choose to sell it. Personally, not knowing any better, I love the way it plays and sounds and that is what is important. I guess my question is, did i make a good purchase? I know that the guitar sold for around $3400.00 when it was new. I paid $2900.00 for the guitar and amp. Did I make a good purchase? All opinions are welcome and my feelings won't be hurt. Neither will I beat myself up if most of you think I paid to much. Life is a learning experience and education isn't free. Thank you fine folks for your help.   Jim

Re: 2012 Fender Custom Deluxe Cobalt

You don't say what country you're in which makes prices vary a bit
The amp is currently available for purchase at MF I see about $900usd.
The guitar sounds a bit pricey but I did find a hit on GC website for $3400 usd so you have about $4200 worth of gear for $2900.

If you look at it like paying full price for the amp+tax as if it was new then you basically got a $3400 guitar for $2,000

So it sounds like a fairly good deal,
