Topic: Silver Jubilee Pedal

For some reason a very popular amp but not many companies tackle this style of "amp in a box." Here is a new offering:

Amp: Firebird Musical Amplifiers
Guitars:62 LP SG , 02 FB VII, JB FB I, 76 Electra Omega, 64 Firebird V, 73 LPC, 61 Custom Tele, 59 and 60 Melody Maker
Effects: Mythos Chupacabra, Strymon Deco/Flint

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

Thanks for the link. I listened and the longer I listened the more it just sounded like a Tube Screamer to me. It's hard to tell on Youtube and who knows what amp he was running through. But I have to admit it's an ambitious project to try and it was great to see. Thanks again for the link.

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

The new silver jubs are around $1599 and I think worth it

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

Oh sure, most drive pedals to me sound like a TS, but this one has more gain on tap. It's definitely on the Marshallesque side of Sears. I am not going to get one, since I have long left that pedal quest and have the unique position of being a beta tester for an effects company.

Of course if someone has the scratch to get a real amp, I say go for it, but a lot of players still need to show up for gigs using a backline of Fender or need Fender cleans and just something to get them close to a british sound. Most of us still don't want to show up to play a 45 minute set using a multi-amp setup.

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

True enough it had plenty of gain smile

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

I don't think the new S.J.'s are worth it at all. I had two of the 50w versions, which are more than enough for anyone who isn't touring 1000 seat venues, and paid under 2k for each. Why buy the new one's for $1600-$1800? LOL

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

Any amp in a box type pedal always leaves me disappointed. The SJ reissues are good but not equal to the originals. Save your money. The original SJ's are still available and affordable. If your not big on the silver tolex, there's always the black ones. Yes the SJ line continued for 3 years after 1987. They just came in black. Same model numbers. Those are the cherries you want to find! Good Luck!!!

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

Hey guys
I had a chance to try this one out at NAMM - I may be doing a demo of it soon, I've done several demos for Alexander Pedals. The owner is a really nice guy and makes great stomps, I usually have two or three of his pedals on my board. He specializes more in mod type pedals, but the Silver Jubilee I thought sounded great (from what I could tell at the NAMM show... its not like its loud there or anything...)

If I do end up doing a demo of it I'll post it on here.

Cheers
Jack

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

Yeah, so if you want a Dumble, just save the 80-100K. That is very doable for any musician. Don't ever buy a pedal! Also take that very expensive gear on tour and the local smoky dives. It is a very safe world out there where gear never gets damaged or stolen, and where all musicians get paid a lot of money and have tons of disposable income.

Come on guys, surely the real amp is always best to get the sound of a real amp. But for gigging musicians who are making ends meet and have to keep a budget, the real deal is not always the best choice, specially when a lot of times you have to use a backline.

A new real Jubilee is not exspensive. Comparing it to a dumble is not even in the same league. A new Jub around $1500

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

I feel as if some of us are in different situations either in what they need to make music and what they can afford. To each their own. Let us not shut down the options for affordable tools for those who the 1500 bucks  price tag is not a reality. Let us not be TGP, instead let us learn/share and discuss tools for the gigging musician/weekend warriors and those who can afford higher end things also.

Re: Silver Jubilee Pedal

You call that "just the basics"? Sounds more like SRV's rig to me

yup basic for many players but to each their own. That's what makes guitar playing great. It means different things to different players. For me seems pretty basic exspecilly tube screamer and wah. Any good clean amp and your favorite guitar. In the end it's all in the fingers anyway
