Topic: Joe's Guitars for Slide

A question for Joe.

Do you usually have a select few guitars you put the action up for playing slide?
Or do you have all your guitars at roughly the same action so you can pick any?

I play slide on all my guitars but don't have the action too high so there's always the slight clunk as the slide goes over the frets.

Thanks!

Happy New Year!

Re: Joe's Guitars for Slide

As far as I know, he used to have a few just for slide playing. On the 2015 tour he played slide on "Burning Hell" and "The River" using his Bonabyrd. These tracks are played in Open F, as far as I know, so I think it's very possible that he raised the action a bit.
I'd also like to point out that Joe uses medium-high action on all of his guitars, and he isn't shy on picking up a slide while in standard tuning.

He played his newer (68) Tele at the Baked Potato and used slide in part of one tune last week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FryvobX … e=youtu.be
