Groove Legacy (featuring Paulie Cerra & Kirk Fletcher)

Groove Legacy is a band formed by Paulie Cerra (Joe's sax player) and keyboardist, Billy Steinway. The other members include Kirk Fletcher - guitar, Travis Carlton - Bass, Sam Meek - guitar, Andrew Lippman - trombone and either Lemar Carter on drums for the album or Donald Barret when we saw them live. It's a type of jazz band that has a good groove to it. We went out to LA for their debut CD release party at the Baked Potato. Paulie's become a good friend of ours and he had been talking about this gig for a while. So we figured, hell yeah, why not, and so we flew across the country for it this week. Very glad we did. It was such a fun time. The band is killer, all these musicians are just top, top notch. You can tell everyone is having fun and enjoying themselves while they are playing and that created such a good vibe. Most of the songs were instrumental, but Paulie sung a few songs, and he also made Kirk sing a song since this was kind of a farewell party for Kirk who will be moving to Europe. Guitarist, Joey Delgado played with Kirk on the last song of the night. They had a fun back and forth between them. The whole night really was a blast.
