Great interview Jimi75. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for posting. I am a fan of Mark's playing. Especially with Alter Bridge and Tremonti. I actually like some of the Creed stuff too. I just prefer Mark's other projects quite a bit more.
I had the good fortune to meet Mark a couple years ago at a meet and greet through a guitar shop here in Colorado when Creed was in town playing. Eric Friedman was with him too (Eric plays in Tremonti with him and was also serving as a 2nd guitarist with Creed at the time).
The funny thing was I couldn't get there when the meet and greet started so I was really rushing and worried about there being an incredibly long line. I burst into the store and Mark is standing right inside the door talking to a store employee. I practically ran into him. There was essentially no one there at the time I arrived. He looked up and greeted me as soon as I walked in. I was not at all prepared for that or ready to talk to him immediately. Honestly he could not have been any friendlier or more down to Earth. An incredibly nice guy to talk to. He talked to me for probably 20 minutes or so discussing everything from his PRS guitar model, to his rig set up, to his technique and practice routines, to blues music.
He was very generous with his time. he signed a bunch of stuff for me, took a couple pics with me too. I left having even more respect for him. I should also note that Eric was also incredibly friendly and generous with pictures and singing too. Eric and I talked a lot of blues as he started out as more of a potential blues prodigy and then migrated more toward the rock/metal stuff later. I kept encouraging him and Mark to do a blues project. Hasn't Happened.
