Topic: Only Joe could make me miss this. What would you miss?

My wife and I are graduates of Michigan State University.  I played football there.  We are HUGE Spartan fans.  MSU is playing for the Big10 Championship and a spot in the National Championship playoffs Saturday night at 8pm...We have 5th row tickets to see Joe in Clearwater tomorrow night at 8pm.  To understand this, when I say we are huge MSU fans, I mean we spend thousands to travel to see big games.  We live and die MSU sports.  When tickets for Joe went on sale last May, never even thought of it conflicting with a game, other wise we would have bought Friday night tickets.  It is what it is and there was not even a second of indecision, we will be at the concert, front and center.  We plan on hitting the nearest sports bar right after the concert and hopefully catch the 4th quarter.  Just like everyone else on here, we have spent a fair amount of money on Joe, but nothing proves our devotion to Joe more than this.  It just proves once again, what I have said ever since I found Joe...he's the best I have ever seen.
So what would you be willing to miss to see Joe?

Last Saturday night Oklahoma and Oklahoma State squared off for the Big 12 Championship. I had seen Fridays show and it was basically the same set list for Saturday but as you know no two shows are exactly alike. I chose to see the show. I love the Sooners and never thought the game would be for all the marbles and I have seen Joe possibly 100 times but not this particular band and not at The Moody Theater in Austin. I didn't drive 7 hrs to watch a game on TV. Friday nights show was good but Saturday was even better wise decision on my part. Sooners did fine without me.

My girlfriend and I caught Joe Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We did the meet and greet with him, he signed a couple of guitars (Bonamassa models), talked to him a bit, took pictures and then i was like a I'd at toys r us. Wound up with joes guitar straps, signed Anton Fig drumhead and sticks plus other goodies!

I was so excited I didn't sleep Tuesday night or Wednesday and I crashed Thursday morning.  Slept righ thru it... No leftovers, cranky relatives or anything!

So there, I missed an entire holiday!

Re: Only Joe could make me miss this. What would you miss?

When I first discovered Joe was right after RAH I, shortly after he was going to play in Clearwater, as luck would have it my wife's nephew was getting married in Michigan the same weekend.  I did not have a choice.  Every year on his anniversary I remind him that no matter how many times I have seen Joe, it could be 1 more if he would have planned his wedding for a different weekend.  He will always owe me, big time.
By the way MSU beat Iowa for the Big 10 championship and will play Alabama Dec. 31 in Dallas, Texas.  Which is also our anniversary.  We will be going to an early dinner in Key West and then to a sports bar to watch the game.  I have the best wife in the world.  GO GREEN!!!!

I have a friend who is retired and a MSU grad.  He was in the stands in 1966 for the game against Notre Dame that ended 10-10.

He still hates ND to this day smile

Re: Only Joe could make me miss this. What would you miss?

2001 thru Blues Deluxe record, I traveled to support the band at many venues and multiple states.Joe was still just a guy then. 80 to 200 person sell out was the norm. Moral of the story, I missed a ton of stuff to travel and watch his shows develope. Eight to ten dollar tickets watch him catch fire was great. Took tons of photos, recorded lots of shows and drank with the following and Roscoe......

I tore my knee up playing against ND, in South Bend, in 1971.  The only time I've ever rooted for ND, was anytime they played Michigan.

Re: Only Joe could make me miss this. What would you miss?

Well, when I flew to London at the last minute to catch the Tour de Force shows, I realized at one point that I was going to miss my wife's birthday. It was the first time we hadn't been together on her birthday since we met.
She was OK with it...the best wife ever!
