Topic: Eric Johnson and Mike Stern

Saw these guys a few weeks ago in rural Newton New Jersey.  All I really knew was Cliffs of Dover....so really didn't know what to expect.   Got a great show.....I had never heard of Mike Stern....he was great and very entertaining.....may have been on something.....a constant smile on his face and interacted with Eric and the crowd constantly.  Johnson was very technical while Stern had a very jazzy vibe. Anyone in the NY/NJ/PA area should checkout the Newton Theater....It's a great intimate (former twin movie theater) that attracts some great acts!!  Unfortunately I think Joe B has outgrown such venues.

hey Alan, good to have you back around, it's been a while. Yeah, Mike is sort of the jazz equivalent of Joe but has been around a lot longer, he's in his early 60s now and has played with everbody who is anybody. Mike does smile a lot, more than likely just a caffeine buzz. Glad you enjoyed the show, they are both superb players imo.

I saw them on November 21 at small venue in Hopewell, VA. The show was very intertaining and they really seem to enjoy playing together. Hear are to videos from the show.
