Topic: Joe B Tomato Burst LP from Gibson USA for 2016

While searching to see what B Byrds were out there for Forum FYI last night (post #41 in the Bona-Byrd Proto Thread) ... I see Gibson USA posted up two Joe B Signature "Tomato Burst" Limited Runs LP's for their 2016 Product Line ...

A 50 piece run .... w/ signed Pick guard and signed and #'d case (w/ Bigsby)
(looks like it may get the "Bonamassa" serial # stamp)

A 150 piece run ... unsigned Player's edition (no Bigsby)

Thx for the link....Nice....non custom shop more affordable....although may have more flaws to them etc

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Thanks for the info and link!

Re: Joe B Tomato Burst LP from Gibson USA for 2016

Still a pretty limited run for the non signed. I'd say they are still going to be up there in price. I'm ready for another sub-3000 price Gibson either a Standard or Studio version. I would have jumped on the newest epiphone but I'm just not a fan of the solid green. If it was a burst, I would all ready own it. I'll probably grab the Pelham blue eventually.

Guitars: Gibson 2015 LP Traditional in Honeyburst, Gibson LP Studio Deluxe, Fender American Deluxe Telecaster, MIM Fender Strat with Dimarzio Areas, MIM Fender Hss Strat,  Epiphone Sheraton II, Breedlove Acoustic
Amplitube 4 with Scarlett 6i6 and 2i4 interfaces through studio monitors.

I've said for a long time that a JB Signature Traditional LP would surely be a best seller. Make it a long term thing, rather than limited and keep the prices down to not much above the normal Trad by only changing key things like colour (maybe in the Skinner Burst finish), neck shape, pickups and, of course, the top hat controls...

Then continue to do the high end limited runs through the Custom Shop...

If only I ran Gibson..!!

Guitars: Fender American Original 60s Strat, Fender American Vintage 52 Tele, Gibson Les Paul Traditional
FX: Various including - Ceriatone Centura, Fire Custom Shop Carpe Diem
Amp: Fender ML212 Deville + 212 extention cabinet

Nice looking guitar!  Intrigued that it doesn't have the nylon saddles under the high E and B strings like the earlier custom shop runs.  Has Joe stopped using those on his vintage bursts now?

I would have thought that with the Bigsby, smooth string glide over those bridge saddles would have been more important?!?

It was NGD at our house yesterday. Phil is now the proud owner of Lucky #7 of this Tomato Soup Burst run! What a beautiful guitar! The color and grain is gorgeous. Huge shout out to Ron for helping to make this happen. You are a dear friend, Ron, can't thank you enough for all that you did. Ron sent us a clip of him giving it a test drive before it was shipped to us, and man, I wish Phil could play even an 1/8th as good as Ron. Phil has a lot of years of practice ahead, but no doubt this guitar will definitely motivate him.

Re: Joe B Tomato Burst LP from Gibson USA for 2016

That's beautiful.

Was the vibramate spoiler added? I don't see that on Gibson's photos.

I see there is a non-bigsby model too, limited to 150, and no mention of a signature. I wonder if there are any other functional differences between the two. (There might be specs I could compare, but I haven't done that.)
