Topic: Les Paul Unicorn?!

Hi Folks,

First post ever - I've been doing a bit of homework on my number 1 guitar since I've had it for years, didn't really know much about it and it occurred to me I've not ever seen another like it.

Serial number is 81462612 which I think means it was built in Nashville on Wed, 26th of May 1982! I could be wrong though, I'm crap at reading serials.

I suspect I have a rather rare Gibson XR-1. Not only that but it's also the silver burst finish which has gone slightly green over the years. So a rare finish on an already rare guitar possibly? No idea on the actual numbers, but they were only made between 1981 and 1983 from what I can find on the old interwebs!

It's loaded with Dirty Finger pickups and the damn thing wails.

It's pretty much completely stock, other than a bone nut and some locking strap buttons it's all original. Bit roadworn now but I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have NO idea how much it's worth. I swapped it for a limited edition SG Gothic years ago with a mate!

Can anyone shed anymore light on these old Les Pauls??

Greg

Re: Les Paul Unicorn?!

I do have some pics but not sure how to post them on this forum?

I tried the usual embed methods..

Re: Les Paul Unicorn?!

Unfortunately this forum doesn't allow pictures posted directly into a post

So you'd have to put them on a picture share site like photobucket.com

Also they have a minimum post count in place, so if you don't meet the minimum post count, you can't post a link to your pictures on photobucket.com
