Topic: Liverpool 23 October.

Wow, just wow!

Home after Joes gig in Liverpool, took my kids(10 & 13) along as they said they wanted to go when he came around...they already liked Joes music but they were blown away with how good it was live.

From my point of view it was great, the venue was good acoustically(in my humble opinion) will try and put the only video I took on later. Anyone else there tonight videos would be great as my wife couldn't make it for health reasons and she would love to see some.

Re: Liverpool 23 October.

Fantastic show in Liverpool last night! Even though it was the same setlist as Newcastle, it felt like a whole different show. Joe was just wailing on one song after another. Probably helped that the arena was nice and warm so he didn't have cold fingers. It was a really nice arena, huge difference from the one in Newcastle. We were sitting one tier up on the right side this time so I had a great view of Joe when he would play head on with Michael. Really nice view. Been trying to upload the videos but with some weird computer malfunction last night, a train ride today and pretty slow internet at our hotel in Leeds, it is a bit slow going. Please check out "Oh Beautiful" because I think it is one of the best we have heard. The solo began quite different than other times and it built to an incredible crescendo. There were many other standouts as well. Really the whole show was over the top. Quite a nice one to get as my birthday show. Glad to have footage to remember it all by.

Reviews don't get better. If it was 9/10, one wonders what higher is?
"Genius" "... most gifted player on the planet."
I think the reviewer liked the show! big_smile
Good grief, I'm green with envy at missing this series.

Thanks for the replies,

You guys are everywhere!

Thanks for the videos, as always they are brilliant.
As I mentioned in my first post I took my kids, 10 year old daughter & 13 year old son, my daughter turned to me at one point and said "this is fantastic" and my son couldn't take the grin off his face for two and a half hours.

Thanks again and a belated Happy Birthday.

Regards

Lee.

Re: Liverpool 23 October.

anyone done a guitar tally on what he's using in each song this fall tour?
we know that there are 2 Twins, and 2 Bassman's

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

Re: Liverpool 23 October.

Was at the Liverpool show last Friday.  Disappointing, I am afraid.  Seen Joe a few times now but this may be the last.  Way too much shredding and not enough light and shade.  Good to see keyboards and brass - all musicians on stage were excellent.  Brass wasted, though, as could hardly be heard above Joe, but keyboards used to great effect.  Couldn't hear the lyrics to most the songs and if I didn't know most of the songs anyway I would have been very hacked off.  Sound generally poor (it's a shed, after all!).  I know artists prefer to play arenas as it means more money for less work but a decent theatre always beats a shed.  Also if Joe is to play arenas in the future we need to see a big screen behind him.  And the set was too long by 20/30 mins.  I left at 2h15m and he was still playing.  Would prefer perhaps acoustic first half and electric second half - and a break.  And maybe a girl singer (like Beth Hart) for more variety.  Oh, Beautiful was poor as intro didn't provide enough quiet contrast for powerful riff when it comes in.  Best song of the night for me was Going Down.  I suspect that next time I will stay at home with a JB CD and a glass of wine and music that is more nuanced on record than at a gig.  Shame, really - I like Joe Bonamassa.
