Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

Thanks very much for posting, very interesting interview.

Regarding the prices I understand that touring in 2015 is more expensive than in 2015, but I don't accept the doubling of prices ( not to mention the first five rows...) within 6 years, I mean Joe shows are not that big and as he is his own promoter he can control the prices.

Let's agree to disagree on that point, I wish everybody who's going much fun and a great evening!

Those down front escalated prices are set by venue and vendor. Same here in the US with a new "Platinum" level for the high rollers via ticketmaster. Double the price. Joe's tickets are in very high demand and that is what the market will bear.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

Well I don't think that the venue is setting the prices here in germany, because its not the case with all artists, but to be honest I don't know.

Your last sentence is exactly what I think: the prices are what they are, because of the demand and that is what the market will bear.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

not that I'm for 'platinum seating' here's what Ticketmaster has to say
as has been noted else where on this forum, when they can't sell the platinum price seats.. they will drop the price as market level demands.

What are Official Platinum Seats?

Official Platinum Seats are premium tickets to concerts and other events made available by artists and event providers through Ticketmaster. They give fans fair and safe access to some of the best seats in the house.

Are Official Platinum Seats resale tickets?

No. Official Platinum Seats were not purchased initially and then posted for resale; they are being sold for the first time through Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster's Official Platinum Seats program enables market-based pricing (adjusting prices according to supply and demand) for live event tickets, similar to how airline tickets and hotel rooms are sold. The goal is to give the most passionate fans fair and safe access to the best tickets, while enabling artists and other people involved in staging live events to price tickets closer to their true value.

Why can't I buy Official Platinum Seats for certain events?

Currently, Official Platinum Seats are not available for all events. Be sure to check back often as new events are continually being added.

How are my tickets delivered?

Depending on the event, Ticketmaster offers Print-at-Home or standard UPS ticket delivery options. In some cases, will call may be offered or required. Learn more about Print-at-Home.

What is the Current Price per ticket?

The price you pay is the original price of the ticket. Official Platinum Seats were not purchased initially and then posted for resale; they are being sold for the first time through Ticketmaster on behalf of the artist or event provider.

Other amounts or fees may also be included in the Current Price, or may be added on top of the Current Price. If additional amounts are added on top of the Current Price, they will be displayed on the website before you complete your purchase.

It's understandable why they do it (to an extent).  Without it, the additional profit for the premium seats goes to the scalpers.  With it, that profit goes to either Ticketmaster (less desirable but more likely) or the artist... depending on their arrangement.  Both seem better options than the scalper to me, and both end up with premium seats selling at premium prices.

Just my 2 cents,

Mike

PS:  The current TDF ultimate fan package at $400 is a bargain with current ticket prices.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

I may be wrong but, after attending three of Joe's shows in the past (ME, NH & MA), the majority of the audience appeared to be middle class/blue collar/hard working. I fear that this "price what the market will bear" policy may do more harm than good in the not too distant future. It was this type of adience that got JB where he is today. It would be a shame to leave us behind.

How much is too much?

Just checked our local club for Tower of Power tickets in the reserved seating section. $100 each. I'd say Joe is right in there since TOP isn't nearly equal to what he puts on.

I just saw Loreena McKinnett for $50. She was accompanied only by a cellist and a guitarist. Joe's show in the same venue here in January will also be an intimate show with just two other musicians. The same seats for that show are $140.00.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

Dear Joe,

after finishing your German leg of the Autumn Tour 2015 and enjoying your Saarbrücken evening the day before yesterday I want to thank you for constantly coming back to our wonderful country: Germany.

This time you brought a memorable hand of musicians who were accompanying your playing at the highest level you can imagine! Best choice, creme de la creme...

Looking forward to the Spring Tour 2016 and waiting for your appearance in Karlsruhe in the Schwarzwaldhalle (= Black Forest HAll) in March.

Anna Laura

P.S. Thanks for periscoping, so much fun, but sometimes difficult to attend especially if you are in the US (because of the different time zones).

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

No matter who is getting the money, it's all part of supply and demand. It just shows the level of popularity that Joe is now having, which we knew was just a matter of time.

Comes with the territory, I guess.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

I thought that J&R rented out all of the venues and that they set the prices. Glad I have six passes left. I could not afford these prices with any travel so please come back to Chitown soon.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

They now sell many of the front row tickets for 90,50 Euro instead of 169,50.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

I bought one of those 90 euro front row tickets and I thought it was worth the money (and the 2 1/2 hour drive)!
I always enjoy watching Joe's hands. Being too far away would be half the fun! Joe played for over 2 hours. Sound and light were good. No complaints at all from my side. Thanks for the music Joe and band!
