Topic: Chantel McGregor - New CD Announcement

Chantel McGregor has, this evening, officially announced the details of the release of her second album - Lose Control.

The release date is the 9th October, but its available to pre-order now from her website. There are various packages available - including with the new Lose Control T-shirt, a signed lyric book and photographs. Chantel has also uploaded to You Tube a short preview of the album with a quick blast of all the songs.

Chantel and her band have been gigging the album for nearly 12 months, anyone who has been to any of the shows will already know there's no second album syndrome to worry about here. Reading an inspired Chantel's story behind all the songs, its easy to see how it all knits together into one coherent masterpiece of an album. This is no Like No Other part two, its a full on hard rock concept album that takes you on a journey through some dark and harrowing subject matter. The album is broken up with some highly emotional acoustic songs and closes with its crowning glory, the prog epic, Walk On Land.

After hearing this one “brew” over the last 12 months or so as well as being familiar with Chantel’s particular inspiration, the final outcome way exceeds the expectations. Chantel’s playing, already awesome, seems to have stepped up and her voice lends an almost “bittersweet” quality to the more Gothic subject matter at the core of her songs. However, the inclusion of strings, rather than the Blues foils of Hammond or harp, really give the songs a beautiful texture.

On stage, she may be giving over more to wearing black taffeta, but I don’t think there’ll be any dyed black back-comb or Siouxsie type eye make-up but mercy, this “Southern Belle” is giving me the vapours…...
