Topic: 77 Blond Telecaster

I was in the Sydney Allans music shop on the weekend and there was this 77 Blond Telecaster Serial S727169 on the wall. The guy said he could not divulge the previous owner as he was a "famous musician from the US who recently sold a lot of his collection." Was wondering whether Joe was this mystery owner?

So if he can't tell you the price should be good. I would grab it if it plays good

They were willing to go as low as $4500. For a late 70s I suppose that is a good price. Those 70s fenders are boat anchors though and this was no exception - It weighed a ton. Who ever did own it played frets 7-15 on gbe A LOT! They were rounded off and almost unplayable. It definitely needed a re-fret. However it still sounded great!

No idea why he cannot divulge the owner's name if the guitar has already been sold from the collection?  If on consignment, that may be another story, but even then - knowledge of the owner could conceivably UP the price considerably if a fan or collector wanted it.  Something about the story just doesn't sound right.

But I bet it used to be Brad Paisley's.... big_smile

EDIT: no. I finally found a picture with the serial number, and it isn't that one.

But his sold, so it would be on consignment from the person who bought it via reverb, or a later purchaser? His also came with a letter authenticating his ownership.

And prices on reverb suggest US$2000-2300, plus or minus. I think people have said there's a bump up for Australia?

I agree with Devan something is not right. I do not know of any reason one would not want to let you know who owned it unless that is total BS to get you to buy. Could be buyer beware.
