Topic: Just gotta say thanks!
Well, after playing to a crowd of 500+ twice a week for 8 years, and starting to get burned out, I come across a video of Joe talking about tone on his Les Paul. The video where he is in a green chair and getting beautiful tone in an open room. Now, it was nothing extravagant, or special in regards to the setup, but something about it just stirred me to pick up my Les Paul again. I build, tinker, paint, play, sing, etc. Working on my 3rd album as we speak, but that video revived a sound in my spirit that was itching to get out!
Heres a rhyme to express what I mean:
I was in a tone prison wanting to be free
somehow sonic chains had been placed on me
Hearing the sound that only a Paul can make
my chains were broken, my heart awake!
Followed joes settings, dropped the treble, pushed the bass
Found a sound, not so brown, yet clearly in your face
It just sings so sweet and makes this man smile
A tone so clear and true it makes you want to...stay awhile
Just gotta say thanks Joe, Im sure you hear it alot
You are blazing a trail cleared by some greats, and keeping the tone alive
As time continues, you are solidifying a place
a place of joy, pure tone and grace
BB would say, "Son, keep the sound true!"
You've done that well, the King plays through you.
Blessings my friend, and thanks for reviving a passion in me for what it started with...love of the sound!
