Topic: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

I was really disappointed and more than upset to see that Joe, his management, or whoever charges 169,50 € for a seat in the first five rows...That's 192,13 USD...more than twice the amount of money I had to pay for a seat in the third row last year...I find that's outrageous!!! Even the Rolling Stones weren't that expensive last year!!!
Joe will have to do without me and quite a few of my friends in the future...not that he cares, I guess...
Any comments?

Yeah that's quite an amount. I just wanted to order row 1 and then saw the price.
EUR 170. Nope. Ended up in row 8 between Joe and Michael.
Row 1-6 are EUR 170. From row 7 on it is EUR 90 "only."
O.K. all who want to see his fingers from near have to pay.
For me also too much. But some pay.
Michael and Anton have to be paid. That's Business.
Maybe also the horns are back again and maybe also Kirk ???
Looking forward to the shows.
Next month again row 1 in Osnabrück and then back to row 8, but...

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

I think a few months back we talked about some of the venues having VIP seating.
Think at that time I saw ticket master charging close to $300usd for VIP seats

Appears if you want to sit close you're going to need to "pony up"

(If only I had 1% of Joe's guitar talent)

The market will show whether this price policy will work. The main ticketseller in Germany, eventim doesn't offer the most expensive category 169,50 € in all locations.

that's right- Only adticket got those tickets.
I think it is more difficult to sell a lot of tickets with 3 ticket suppliers.
The Venues themselves, eventim and adticket.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

I'll buy tickets in the medium price range, but still hope that my band
www.facebook.com/jimmysteeltown  will get the support slot for Dortmund.

Good luck. Very rare for Joe to ever have a support band.

Well, I'm certainly not a VIP - and I don't want to be one!
What kind of audience does Joe want? Lovers of his music?
or is it some stinking rich wankers who only get their rocks off on being able to buy themselves into the first rows?
I'm definitely not going...

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

The "VIP" thing is a Ticketmaster/Live Nation thing. They now sell "Platinum" tickets for any show, not just Joe's. And these tickets are in the first few rows and they charge an arm and a leg for them. And there is nothing "VIP" about them. You don't get anything more than an expensive seat. It's ticketmaster using their monopoly status on ticket buying. We succumbed to it for one of Joe's 3 Kings shows. Paid $345 a ticket for second row pit during presale and then came to find out that months later those seats came down in price to the standard $120 when they didn't sell at Platinum prices. Learned our lesson and won't ever buy Platinum again. Wish there were other ticket companies here in the States so we weren't at the mercy of Ticketmaster/Live Nation.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

I'm conflicted over it. If the seats are going to be scalped at huge prices anyway, I'd rather the artist get the money. And since the front rows are a scarce resource, supply and demand says that they should cost more.

But at the same time, I want to sit there for cheap. I guess the fan presale is the attempt to provide that, and I guess I can live with the third or fourth row instead. smile

171,50€ plus 8 € fees are to be paid by ticketonline and eventim including the 8th row.
by adticket and reservix including the 10th row.
Next categories 92,50/86,90/76,00 without fees.

Presale tickets were only sold by adticket. If you bought earlier you will sit exactly minimum 2 rows more behind than if you bought later f.e. by eventim.

I don't think Joe or his management team have much influence on these prices. I think it's the promoters who try to get a bigger cut for themselves.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

Well, I was disappointed too, when I looked at the ticket prices this year. I just looked at my Joe Bonamassa tickets and the development of the prices in the last years where just like this:

07/2010: 41,00 Euro (standing tickets)
10/2010: 45,70 Euro (standing tickets)
07/2011: 49,90 Euro (standing tickets) Black Country Communion
11/2011: 56,95 Euro (standing tickets)
03/2013: 68,00 Euro (3rd row)
03/2015: 89,50 Euro (15th row)

Now this time it is even more expensive and my decision is I don`t go this time. I even don´t like sitting at concerts,  all the standing Bonamassa Concerts where better with much better atmosphere in the audience I think.

For me it seems, that Joe and his management want to cash up the older audience as the prices are not longer affordable for the younger ones.

I hope there will be more reasonable ticket prices (hopefully with standing venues) in the future, then I will go again.

Please don´t get me wrong, I buy all the CD´s, blu-rays, sometimes vinyl and I love Joe live, but it´s too much I think, my income hasn`t doubled since 2010.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

Welcome to the forum. Many feel your pain as well. Costs rise for everything and touring costs are no different. Check out the cost of a good hotel room over the same period. Joe has to house his crew as well as furnish their meals. I doubt he's gouging for the price.

Re: Joe's Spring Tour Germany 2016

Have the costs of touring really increased that much?

I mean there are some other artists on the road, where the prices get more or less higher, but that much?

I understand that costs are geting higher, but 170 Euro for the first few rows is not what I expected from Joe and I don't want to support that even if I would love to watch him again.

For those wanting some insight into the costs of touring, check out this interview that was just done recently of Joe talking with Guitar Interactive Magazine. Very good interview and sheds some light on the costs involved.

well, the Band, Music and Show etc. is worth the money
yes, it is expensive, e.g. the first 6 rows but I took row 7 instead. Still very near and saved EUR 80
so...
A little sad not to sit in row 1 like Osnabrück next week, but...

Cheers
