Topic: Where's the chicks?

Watch the Rock Palast video indeed any blues/rock video for the past 20 years and you will see guys mostly older guys, few gals.
Singers and guitarists in most bands I know always ask where's the chicks nowadays.
Down at the Disco?
Do young people go to Joes gigs in the states, if so why not in Europe?

Re: Where's the chicks?

it was an odd mix at the show in Decatur two weeks ago.

There was everyone from burned out hippies to young chicks who didn't look old enough to be there. I'd say 70% were males between 21 and 40...staring at Joe, so I'll assume alot of musicians.

that's not including the guy who thought he was at a monster truck convention in the parking lot!

and before anyone gets mad, I have nothing against burned out hippies...if I was part of that era, I'd be burned out too!!!!!!!!

Re: Where's the chicks?

People of ALL ages go see Joe. That's one of the nicest things about him and the music he plays: it appeals to a wide range of people.

The blues isn't about a look or a specific sound, the blues is something deep within. But the sound doesn't hurt things, you know? ~ Ben Hernandez

Re: Where's the chicks?

Well, I go to his shows in europe! smile

But I saw him in spring and there were indeed only few girls; males of all ages, though. I fear the girls are in the disco, at least most my friends are. sad

Peace and Love!

In Oklahoma the Geographical center of the States. Well a little a little South of center and definatley to the right. Joe has a broad fanbase. Although there seems to be a mature majority, most attend as couples. Because of Joe's work here with Blues in the Schools and all ages shows we get a lot of students. We had 100 under 21 sign up for a guitar giveaway at the last show. As far as cruising for chicks you probably should try a John Mayer show.

Dead on... my OKC friend Jim Moody! In Houston (and other Texas / venues), the fans range from 18 to 80. As for as the chicks... I go to the JB shows for the music! I see enough chicks (usually more than I want to) when Audi drags me to the Rob Thomas shows.

The shows I've been to have been a pretty good mix of young to old, guys and gals.
I did notice after watching the Rockpalast video for the fifth or sixth time that the guys in the crowd outnumbered the girls by a very wide margin, more than I've seen at any of the shows I've been to. It looked to me like there were over 95% guys in that crowd...it struck me as very odd. It didn't seem to be all older guys to me, but I guess I need a definition for young (20?, 30?).

Re: Where's the chicks?

At the last Joe show I attended, there was an age range of 3 to 75-- and that was just in my immediate family!  Obviously, the venue policy is a factor but it seems that when it's an all-ages show, fans of all all ages show up to see it.  If I had to take a guess at the gender ratio of the shows I've been to, I'd say 40:60-- female to male.
