You made his sister really sing on the 3 Kings Tour!  (Thanks so much for this great mini Tour ... so glad u came to Camden / Philly area with it.)

(A great back story on the '58 3 Kings V ... as posted by Natasha ... that prompted Joe's acquisition (so I wanted to add her post link here as well)): https://forum.jbonamassa.com/viewtopic. … 08#p337408

"I was in Space for less than 2 weeks … and suddenly Jeaniene’s back … half the Band is off the gd wagon … we have comedians opening for us … and the nice kid that ran our website is now a kleptof’nmaniac.  Boy ... did you guys miss me!!"  Phil Valentine - Road Manager - Staton House Band

I never thought I'd post in this forum as a non-player / non-gearhead, but that was a seriously cool 4 minutes.  Congratulations Joe!  Watching that actually gave me goosebumps.

It's nice that it's coming out of storage, and will end up on both stage and recordings.

Joe's comment that it does something different than a Les Paul is interesting. He's got the ear and the touch to tell, but I've always wondered if tonal differences in instruments (and the whole signal chain) could be quantified and characterized. In other words, if the Flying V had the same era and type pickups, where are the differences coming from? It's easy to accept that the structure of the instrument will affect sustain, damping out different harmonics at different rates. But that should be less apparent on short notes, so is there anything else?

The engineer/guitar-nerd in me doesn't believe in magic or mojo, even when I hear it workin'. :-)

Re: May we christen thee V ... Nigel? :)

smaller/thinner korina body vs larger/thicker mahogany/maple
string thru vs stopbar
2 vol master tone vs 2 vol / 2 tone
there are probably resonance differences in the body shape as well
