Topic: Humphreys 8/28/15 San Diego

Words cannot properly describe last night's show. It was truly incredible. Pretty much on par with the Muddy Wolf show from Beaver Creek. Joe's playing was so intense, and he was so wound up it really was something that mere videos cannot properly capture. The "Hummingbird" was so intense and you were so pulled in and surrounded by it I literally felt like I was being levitated off my seat by the end. I have never experienced anything quite like it. Another person I talked to said she felt like she was having an out of body experience during it. Roy probably thought I was a complete nut because after the show I ran up to him literally jumping up and down exclaiming about it. Highlights were "Going Down" where you could tell Joe was so into it because he went over to one side of the stage and put his foot up on the monitor and wailed on that beautiful red guitar and continued to play with such intensity he broke a string. Obviously "Hummingbird" since I've already talked about it. "Nobody Loves Me But My Mother" I think Joe was seriously channeling BB King on this one. "Angel Of Mercy" a song Joe needs to include on his setlist from now on because it is freakin' killer the way the Flying V just screams on that one. "Thrill Is Gone" was an incredible performance probably the best on this tour.

The intensity that is going on with these shows is other-worldly.  Channeling indeed.  I have a serious case of goosebumps just watching a couple of these.

p.s.  thanks (again) Natasha

What Natasha said! Absolutely over the top performance by the band.

Thanks Joe and crew, you can come back to my place any time and do another double-header. The ambiance and mellow vibe at Humphreys along with the pristine setting of the venue and absolutely great deal for the room/dinner (excellent)/down front center seats make it the best possible stop on any tour.
Of course if that happens we will be hosting another Beck's Beach BonaBlast party. We heard the venue is a PITA to load in and out for the crew. They are all invited too.
Your RocknRoll Geriatric Groupies will power on.

edit: I just have to say I've seen it all now. The lady sitting next to me row 3 center spent the whole time engrossed with her smartphone, online chat and doing a FREAKING CROSSWORD PUZZLE!!!! She only looked up at the stage a couple of times. I figured her husband dragged her along because he's a player and she hates guitars. I bet his night wasn't so hot when they got home. Next time leave her home and take another player.

Back home now and just thinking about what a fantastic 3 days it was. Two shows that were just beyond compare and then one of the coolest gathering of Bonabuds as well hosted by Rick and Helen. Thank you both for everything. We had such an incredibly wonderful time with everyone. Soooo great to spend time with Rocket and Michael. Love you guys! And Linda, Bob and Bill. You are all such dear, dear friends and truly feel more like family to me. I'll say it again, Joe truly draws the most wonderful people to him. Joe you are a magical person and ever since discovering you, you have brought such joy into our lives. I am so thankful to be a part of your "family"

You've Got To Love Her With A Feeling https://youtu.be/mGAils9A5DA  Near the end of this song it seemed like a bird must have exploded above Joe's head because all of a sudden a whole bunch of white feathers came floating down on him. He had to pick one out of the neck of his guitar because it got stuck on the strings. He was like WTF? It was pretty funny!

Re: Humphreys 8/28/15 San Diego

Great stuff as always Natasha. I'm upping mine today but shooting from behind the Amazon Queen with BIG HAIR has a bit of dodgy camera work. She was digging the show and bopping away.
So much fun was had by all on that 3 day party. We'll do it again if opportunity presents since the fan hang is the coolest deal combined with the gigs. We could handle 40 if they spread to the house. wink yikes
