Topic: Humphries By The Bay in San Diego 8/26/15

Very interesting venue where the hotel surrounds it on 3 sides with the harbor on the 4th side. Boats can come up to listen to the music which Joe joked about during the show. When we walked out of our room we ended up at the back of the stage and the rooms nearest the stage where designated as dressing rooms for the band. Never have been to a place quite like this. It was a great show, quite loud, but the sound was well mixed. At the encore everyone stood up and came to the front. You could tell Joe was feeding off this energy, the "Thrill Is Gone" was the best we have seen on this tour.

It sure was nice having Natasha there to do all the work. I just kicked back and watched the show from somewhere other than the viewscreen on the camera. I'm sitting here and she's working on her vids while Phil's audio recording is playing on the system in the house. We hosted them here yesterday and today between the shows.
We hosted a big fan gathering for many forum members yesterday here at our home. 28 fans and even Joe's truck drivers came for a day at the beach and a big Mexican fish, carne asada and pollo (chicken) asada taco feast with all the trimmings.
Can I say GOOD TIMES?
Thanks for all the help and assistance from the gathering of fans. Socal put on the dog for the clan.

Oh yeah the show.
Well my best impression was, upon reflection, a comparison to one of our all time favorite big bands and a California Classic, Tower of Power. This show was TOP to the 10th power! Huge sound with all the goodies we love. Fantastic backup vocals filling the sound out, the brass letting it rip, Reese killing it on the keys, Kirk Fletcher with great rhythm and lead step ins and the bottom setting the pace and everyone on stage with huge smiles. This was more than just the band putting on a show, it was peers at the top of their game having a blast that we got to share. When that baritone sax started honking I was in heaven. Joe put on as good a show as you could ask for in the beautiful setting of the 1400 seat ampitheater surrounded by tropical plantings and a yacht marina on a perfect Southern California evening.

We're off in a few hours to do it again! Oh baby, it's going to be off the hook again.

It was even better than Wednesday's show. More energy and fantastic playing from the band. Peaking for the dvd shoot at the Greek. So nice to see all the Bonabuds and hang out at the pool all day. Sitting by the pool having a Mai Tai while sound check is rocking the place is the ultimate! I even managed to get my sister Elaine and her husband to go. They had a ball and now they understand my mania.

Good on you Rick! The Stangelands did that in Chicago, and it really gives everybody a chance to "visit" before the show. What a special run. I can only imagine how good it is because, IMHO, the very first show was worthy of a DVD. Never worry about your mania. It's rampant in Bonaworld. smile

Nothing other than there will be a lot of cameras around the stage. At Red Rocks last year the cameras were a bit of an obstruction for the folks down in the pit. The band is all primed and the show should be top notch.
