Topic: 3 Kings at SPAC - Saratoga, NY 8/10/15
We've been very busy the last few days driving home from Saratoga, and then immediately moving our son up to Penn State where he will be attending grad school, so I haven't had a chance until now to write about the Saratoga, NY show. SPAC is a really nice amphitheater with beautiful grounds all around it. We had no idea where our seats were going to be for this show and were very pleasantly surprised by receiving front row in the pit. We were pretty far over to the right side, but luckily the stage was kind of low. I always love going to shows near Joe's hometown because he always seems to up his playing since his parents are in the audience. Well, it was definitely the case on Monday night. His parents and their friends were seated in the pit on the left side and because of this, Joe played a lot of his solos over in that area. My videos show a lot of his side and back, but there were a few times when he came over in front of us and I have to say he really had to work at coming near where we were. He had to basically step around his monitors in order to do it and I'm so glad he did. It was so special having him play those solos a few feet in front of us. Thank you Joe, you made our night with that.
I was worried at first about how the sound was going to be since we were so close to the small stage speakers, but it turns out that all of Joe's voice, guitar and the keyboards came through the speaker right in front of us and the videos I filmed are literally the best sounding ones of Joe's voice that I have from the 3 shows we went to. And his voice is so important to hear properly because there is so much singing on these songs, more so than any other tours he has done. Joe and the band were top notch this night, they had just had a day off and they seemed well rested and raring to go.
There were a few changes that have taken place as these shows have progressed and one major change resulted in me having to deal with a really unpleasant individual on youtube. At the first show in Camden, there were video intros at the breaks between the different "Kings", at Holmdel there was audio of this and at Saratoga there were no intros. The lights went dark for a moment and then Joe started playing. I uploaded "Nobody Loves Me But My Mother" and I received this comment "You started filming after the best part!! WTH is wrong with you!!!" At first I was worried that somehow my video didn't start at the beginning, but it had, and then I realized the guy was referencing the video intro. I tried to explain to him there were no video intros at this show, but he just wouldn't accept it and at one point stated, "1AnitrasDance really???? I could care less what you film. And I know for a fact that he puts a vid of BB singing this song before he starts so why dont you film it right or dont film it!! Get a life groupie. I hope Joe pays you to film him if he dosent than you need to get a life" It was incredibly upsetting to deal with and as I was trying to figure out a way to block him he posted on the video I did of this song from Camden, NJ about how I was a dumb a$$ broad and how I better damn well apologize to him because here was proof of the video intro. The guy just wouldn't accept the fact that there were no videos at Saratoga and I believe I have now blocked him. I have dealt with unpleasant people before on youtube, but this was just abusive. I don't know how Joe handles all the trolls he has to deal with because it really is upsetting to have people get so nasty at you for no reason. And I have to say it kind of sucked to have this unpleasantness after we had such a good time seeing everyone and witnessing such phenomenal playing by Joe and his wonderful blues band at the past 3 shows. So I will try and put it past me and just concentrate on the good stuff. And here is some of the good stuff:

It's funny, before the show I always think, well maybe I shouldn't film it, just sit back, give my arms a rest. But then I think but what if I don't capture it and it turns out to be the best ever? Each venue and each show was a little different, both sound wise and view wise. Glad I ended up doing all three and especially this one since the sound was so good.
