I won't be attending your show, but I'm catching him november 24 in New Orleans.  Doing the meet and greet and all. It feels like an eternity from now til then!

Re: Louisville Show November 2015

I've been working on this off and on all day. For one thing it's hard to write a review of one show while watching all of Joe's live shows on Palladia! Not complaining loving every minute of it!

Here we go from the beginning, the Meet & Greet huge thanks to Joe for being so generous with his time to meet with his fans. Yesterday's had a first for Joe, a marriage proposal! The couple are standing there with Joe and the next thing you know the guy is down on one knee in and is proposing marriage turns out written on the back of his guitar (I assume he had also brought to have signed) were the words "Tammy will you marry me?" She did say yes! It was all kind of crazy! Joe said he had two firsts that day a proposal at Meet & Greet and I'm afraid I was too far away to hear what he said the other the other first was???

Went to dinner at a pizza place next door. I saw a fellow with a Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea tshirt started chatting about the cruise he and his wife from southern Indiana joined us for dinner and soon realized that at Joe's last show on the cruise we were likely standing just a few feet apart! Before we were done had become Facebook friends so she can join the Joe Facebook groups. One of the coolest things about following Joe you meet the nicest people and become friends instantly smile

Headed over to the show another first for me everyone had to go through metal detectors and empty their pockets and all hand bags were searched. A news report earlier in the day said the Federal Building in downtown Louisville had been evacuated due to a suspicious package that turned out to be okay. Don't think this had a bearing on the fact the detectors were there assuming they would have been there anyway.

Joe was wearing black suit white shirt and the shiny red shoes I believe we're same at Shepherds Bush. Not sure if this was intended but black and red team colors for University of Louisville Cardinals. Their basketball team in action a few blocks away against Hartford. And my team University of Kentucky playing against our rival Duke in Chicago I said I would only miss watching this game for a Joe show. We won and it's recorded on dvr smile

My first time seeing the new band line up, (not including Muddy Wolf and 3 Kings) and not slighting any of the previous band members all extremely talented and I feel very fortunate  to have seen them perform live with Joe many great memories. The new line up has great chemistry and so much fun to watch them play off each other you can tell they are having a blast. I love to watch Reese Wynans watch Joe. I noticed it the first time I saw him with Joe at the Beaver Creek show he would watch Joe have a killer solo shake his head and come back with a killer keyboard solo. So much fun to watch. Anton's solos were awesome and fun to watch as well and I love love love the horns!!

Highlights of the night for me Angel of Mercy on of my favorites from 3 Kings happy to see it on the set list. Hey Baby/Oh Beautiful I still consider it "new" and loved the crowd immediately recognized and responded smile The new arrangement of Happier Times with Lee Thornburg's trumpet solo was beautiful and brought the first tear of the night. Double Trouble, it took a couple of "sshhhhhs" from Joe but once the fools quit yelling and whistling it was my favorite live performance of this song I've seen. Same with Love Ain't a Love Song it only took Joe one shhh they had figured out it was worth their while to keep silent what a solo it was!!! New life to Sloe Gin with Reese's beautiful keyboard intro. Special guest Greg Martin of Kentucky Head Hunters joined in for All Aboard and it was an all out jam session they were having a blast!

If you noticed Joe was at The Ryman Monday, Louisville Tuesday and then back at The Ryman Wednesday. He explained The Grand Ole Opry is recorded there on Tuesday so they scheduled Louisville in between. Thankful they did it, was a memorable performance. I saw the tweets Joe made afterward that for a second time had issues with the aggressive security guards at The Palace. Not sure what happened hate to hear it the Palace is a really cool old theater. I am however not surprised I had it out with one of the guys at Steve Winwood over my camera when it said right on their page for his show point and shoot cameras were allowed. I hope that doesn't hinder future shows there but totally understand after having issues more than once. If Joe or anyone at J & R sees this I will suggest this beautiful fairly new venue for a future show in Kentucky a performing arts center on Eastern Kentucky University's campus in Richmond

Lastly something on a more personal note (sorry so long) I had posted in another thread a while back my husband had been diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumor in February 2014. For those of you who know us and are on Facebook you know we attend a lot of concerts and local band live gigs. We've been blessed since his diagnosis to see Joe in Lexington, and next travel to Nashville, the cruise earlier this year, Dayton and out to LA for the show at The Greek. His latest MRI last week showed a "subtle" change and the docs have added another chemo. Unlike the one he has been taking this one can cause low blood counts in particular his white count requiring him to take extra precautions to prevent infection and this obviously means avoiding crowds. His first treatment was today so last night may have been our last show for a while. Thanks Joe band and crew for making it one of the best and most memorable show we've been to yet. Leave no doubt you're the best in a league of your own as a person and a musician. Fingers crossed the side effects are minimal and we will be on the cruise in February.

Set list (to the best of my knowledge I and written down Brighton and followed along no changes)

Thank you Lizzee for your great review.  Great hearing about one of Joe's Firsts ... wonder what the other one was.

Also ... thoughts and prayers for your husband, and your family, as he takes some time and treatments to get better ... looking forward to your review / share of your next Joe show together!
