Re: "Groove Is King" new Rock Candy Funk Party album
Thanks Rick.
That's what I thought. So if anyone here is going tonight and could buy me a shirt in Large that would be great
Pay all costs of course.
Enjoy the last night who ever is there

Sorry Steinel. I got this message after we had returned to the hotel. Inet was super slow and my hotspot just packed it in from the venue.
I gave Grooove is King the first good listen on the home system.
WOW this is some good stuff! Tal did a superb job producing this and you should run and get it if you like some funky and rocking music. Joe's riffs, the complex shades, rhythms and deep looks into the groove are going to get lots of playtime here. Some is very danceable, some is just killer groove.
Put on your dancing shoes because it's impossible to sit still on some of these tracks.
Rick
Another run of great gigs at the Baked Potato~Groove is King just kicks it up several notches from the last album which was fantastic~Rock Candy Funk Party is just on fire!! This cd will be first run in my car cd player for long awhile.
I listened to most of it for the first run through.Love it!!
It does have a different vibe from We Want Groove.
It's all good.like the tracks that have the added horns as well
Opened at #4 Jazz. Congrats to Tal and the band.
Ok I downloaded this two days ago and here is what I think.
Msn I LOVE this cd. The groove the funk man gets your foot tapping. Many tracks could be in movies. I can see Urba Station a track in a movie set in NYC during the 70's. Great job guys
Cheers Ron
This disc made my car's rear view mirror shake. I'm not kidding, it must be something extra in the bass. At first I thought it was just a rough patch of road, but it had been recently resurfaced. Then, I quickly worried it could be something in the engine, but my car was driving fine.
I paused the Groove is King CD to listen to the car - and the mirror quit shaking! When I restarted the CD the mirror restarted shaking. I tested it with other discs. The car mirror only shakes when Groove is King is playing at high volume!
What's the music like? Funking Fantastic - even better recorded and produced than RCFP's first album. It's heavier, harder and rocks way more than the first album. Their first album sounds like a nice late night, laid back funk/fusion jam session. This one adds a lot of rock and a full set of horns on some songs. It's also got a lot of hot jazz mixed with the funk and it's all very danceable.
There is also a nice 50 min DVD along with the CD. It has interviews with all the players and a good look into the recording of Groove is King. You hear why these guys love playing this music. The DVD really adds to understanding and appreciating the GROOVE.
I had a computer crash the day this came out and just got up and running again....I absolutely Love this new RCFP disc...I really enjoy just about every tune on this album, and there are some real highlights as well..
Groove is King , the title track has a great simple addictive guitar riff to be built upon by the stellar band,Uber Station has a great groove, and the horns are awesome, East Village is just plain cool, Cube's Brick is so FREAKING GOOD I just never want it to end...In my opinion, one of the 3 best tunes on this disc. Don't be Stingy is decidedly disco and a nice change of pace, Digging in the Dirt is just another masterpiece, and I feel like that and Cube's Brick are the new Murf theme songs!! The Fabulous Tale of Two Bands is just that... Fabulous...Although... anyone notice the extreme resemblance to that big Prodigy hit...?? Still, so Rockin' that it is my very favorite tune of all...I love it when a band ends a great disc with a great song... The only thing on this disc I don't absolutely love is probably "Rock Candy"...just a little to speedy and ska for me, but, having said that, this disc is conservatively about 5 times better than the 1st one in my opinion, and I really liked the 1st one...This one is just so great with the addition of the horns, and really well written material...!!! The disc is on constant replay in the Miata as I cruise this incredible summer of 2015...What an AMAZING piece of work...Thanks for adding to the soundtrack of my life!.... AWESOME JOE...GREAT JOB!!!
