Topic: Hello Everyone!
I'm Brian, aka "The Curmudgeon" because of my cynical attitude and advanced age (64). I've been a pro or semi-pro musician for over 50 years. Started on guitar for 9 years, but when I couldn't find work as a guitarist and everyone said "but we could sure use a bass player," the light bulb went on in my head and I made the switch. I was never out of a gig again! Finally, about 4 years ago, I was contacted by some members of the first band I had any real success in--as a guitarist. They had been approached about doing some reunion shows but said they wouldn't do it without me. I explained that I hadn't picked up a guitar since 1973, and they just said "start practicin'!" So I bought an Epi '56 Gold Top, since an early-50's Gibson Gold Top had always been my dream guitar years ago. Couldn't afford--or find-- one then, now I can find 'em, but I still can't afford one!
Anyhow, along my journey of re-learning guitar, I discovered Joe, and he blew me away! Not just with his playing, which we all can agree, is amazing, but with his work ethic, his humility and approachability, everything. So here I am, ready to get acquainted and to learn. If I violate protocol, let me know--I get really aggravated when somebody new shows up in a forum and acts like he has all the answers.
Brian
P.S.--A few months ago I bought an Epiphone JB Les Paul. Wow! What a guitar. It's my favorite out of all the ones I've ever owned--except possibly the '63 Strat I foolishly sold in '68.
