Topic: Five Stars for You & Me
I’ve had a chance to digest You & Me, through many hours on listening pleasure. In my opinion, this is Joe’s best release to date. Prior to You & Me; ANDY; ANDY Live; SILT all had many songs that instantly became favorites for me and were blended with blues, blues rock and rock. Blues Deluxe always stood out to me because of the all blues release, and was touted as my favorite until You & Me.
You & Me “feels” like a true blues cd, and can hear Joe’s vocals improve on each new release. There will always be a difference of opinion on the definition of blues, and can ask 10 people their definition of blues, and you will get 10 different answers. Joe HAS the answer, and nailed it on You & Me!
Joe’s wide open, no holds bared approach to blues has definitely changed my life, and many other fans as well. There is the music industry way, and there is the Joe Bonamassa way. Joe’s ever expanding fan base will ensure Joe’s success.
I’ve had the pleasure of following Joe since 2002, and like many other fans, have traveled many many miles, and even cross country to attend Joe shows. Joe makes it look so easy… but guitarist abound know it’s NOT easy. Joe works his **** off to accomplish those slower heart felt blues tunes, as well as the nasty rip roaring lightening fast, clean, 10 minute solos that only Joe can do. This is NOT easy folks, and to boot… life on the road is not all glamour… it’s grueling. Joe is truly one of a kind, musical genius.
While attending a show in Philly last year with the Cornell’s, we found a radio station that played Led Zeppelin 5 out of 10 songs, which is a good thing as I love Plant and Page. Phil and I regressed back to that era, (along with a little Grey Goose and 6”’s of snow) and remembered how crisp and clean those guitar solos sounded back then…… And then there is Joe……
Thanks Joe… it’s been a fantastic ride, and can’t wait to see what the future holds. It’s hard to improve perfection, but you manage to do it night after night.
Cheers from Texas,
Glen Winfrey
