Topic: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

I'm sure Joe will have the most fun in recent years in choosing special songs and unique gems from the wide and varied catologues of Albert, Freddie & BB King, it must be his greatest honour to play and resurge these artists to the millions of Blues and Music fans worldwide.

Also as he done with The Muddy / Wolf shows where he adds his own songs onto the end, i personally think Sloe Gin, Ballad of John Henry and Mountain Time have had there time onstage and DvD places for a while, i'd like to see some New and Fresh Joe additions from his huge array of tunes such as ...

The Meaning of The Blues ... this is so apt for The 3 Kings Tours
The Last Matador of Bayonne ... such a beautiful haunting song
The Whale That Swallowed Jonah ... Joe on Acoustic with Kirk Fletcher taking Lead
No Love on The Street ... Joe's own Scintillating Breathtaking Solo Run  cool
you can see where this going, i'm on a huge Dustbowl trip at the moment, that album in Insane

also there for ripe picking and bringing out onto the Ampitheatre stages and dusting down and glossing up and setting light to

Songs like

Night Life ... though that could fit nicely into BB King Set
Left Overs ... always said a big talented Joe band could run with this and have individual fun too
No Slack ... this could be reworked lovely
When She Dances ... one of Joe's most beautiful songs
Taking The Hit ... needs an injection again, imagine Joe and Michael Rhodes facing off
and ...
Reconsider Baby ... this song is one of the most requested Joe tunes, he so needs to bring this to the stage and let rip, it would be inspiring to see Joe take this to another level.

There's a few ideas and personal opinions, i'm sure a few of you out there have your own wishes, go ahead feel free, its just a bit of fun

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

This will be a most excellent show. Can not wait till dvd comes out. Shame though there are 4 kings, not just three. Should not forget earl king, New Orleans blues man. Not as well know, but is a very good guitar player, has some really good music out there.
I saw B.B. Back in 02 in Savannah. I will miss him very much. Hope Eric or someone has a tribute concert honoring him. Imagine the players that would show up for that!

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

A great wish list Michael.
Consider though, that he will be having the biggest band on stage of his career with backup and step-in lead vocals. Gotta have them all represented in the encore.
Looking forward to seeing you again!

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

November 24 is my first time seeing him in person live.  Went of the deep end and doing the meet and greet too, I hope he at least plays sloe gin.  My favorite song, I'd be fine dropping john Henry as I play it everyday on the guitar.  It's epic and you could fit two songs in its place!  He can also, in my opinion, drop the ZZ top cover.  I'd like to see him do like an 8 minute tribute to bands like whitesnake, Zep, sabbath, maiden, use all killer riffs and end the set with a killer solo that is just jaw dropping! Say goodnight take a bow, leave the stage and have the audience ha e to sit back in their seats to catch their breath and take in what they just witnessed! :?

This post just took a poop wink

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

I think Parasite.. that since you haven't seen him live.. maybe you want to wait and tell us how you feel after you see him live.

I think in the 2.5hrs Joe is on stage, you'll sit in your seat at the end 'catching your breath' .. in Joe's style.. not someone else's.

I may have been misunderstood in my original post, I guess I took the long way to say I hope he's keeps sloe gin in his encore set.  I'm catching him in November after the August 3 Kings run and I hope his new big band stays intact for the whole tour because I'm excited to hear what he's going to be doing live by that point!  I would love to see him do a quick medley of the Classic British bands, just to hear his take on it... smile

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

With a tribute to three legends vs. two for Muddy Wolf, I wouldn't be surprised if Joe doesn't do any of his own songs for an encore this time. However, if he did, I think he'll likely do a couple of the tunes from his upcoming album. The easy choice (for me, anyway) for the final song of the night is Freddie King's "Goin' Down".

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

I expect Joe will release a DVD and cd as usual covering at least one of the live shows, so I don't think he'll do any of the originals he did on the Muddy Wolf tour, probably no originals or perhaps a couple thrown in at the end...Blues Deluxe and Reconsider Baby would both fit nicely..

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

While I will not be able to attend any of these shows I am so excited about the music choices Joe will have.

I have three  songs one from Each Mr. King I would love to see Joe play live.

BB- Chains and Things
Albert - Match Box Blues
Freddie-Hide Away

Of course the list is endless  and I am so interested to see how Joe pays tribute to all three who have meant so much to blues music.

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

After buying Mahalia Barnes' album, I'm hoping Game Is My Middle Name gets performed during the tour.  Black Irish Eyes would also be good since Joe will have backup singers.

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

So here I am on the top of a tour bus in Philadelphia and what do I spy on the back of a city transit bus?

Joe Bonamassa Aug 7 in Camden NJ which is just the other side of the river here.
surprised to see advertising on the back of a City Bus..
and no sadly I'll be long be home by the time Joe arrives here
bummer.. we booked this last November long before the 3kings tour was announced.. 1 week and I could have seen the opening show sad

[edit]
to add insult to injury.

Joe had a TV ad for the upcoming 3 Kings Tour on NBC10 Philadelphia;
there seems to be some good floor/ground seats available for Camden and  some re-sales are listed too.

Re: Joe Songs on 3 Kings Tour

Michael,
Great call on Meaning of the Blues. But Reconsider Baby???
That one may be worth the price of admission by itself.

All great choices you made and I hope we get to hear a few of those.

They're actually filming the LA show (final 3 kings) for a Spring '16 release!
