In all honesty, I just listen to Joe on an everyday, jump in the car kind of day. One time I threw a Neil Young CD case in my car and when I pulled the CD out, it was Joe.  I just surrendered to it  wink

...still thinking on the #2,3,4,5 slots on the All Time list (of course Joe is Number 1 Slot here, too)

My top five ...

1) Joe (seen 4 times now and will see him again on Aug. 24)
2) Led Zeppelin (never had the pleasure of seeing them other than on DVD)
3) Rush (see them on July 23)
4) Van Halen (seen 6 times)
5) Deep Purple (Saw them in 1985. Richie Blackmore blew me away)

Re: Who's your Top 5 ??

There's a Van Halen fan...I've seen 'em 6 times as well, but I can barely count the Van Hagar version...It sucked LIVE

That's a great list!

Mine would be: Gilmour, Hendrix, Bonamassa, Satriani, & Hoey

Re: Who's your Top 5 ??

These are awesome lists!  I could easily pick any one and just go with it for my list...but what's the fun in that??

Okay, so let's just get Joe's name out there right off the bat and move on...

2.  Led Zeppelin
3.  Pink Floyd
4.  Jimi Hendrix

So that part was easy, number 5, not so much...Ana, Joanne, Irene, Bernie, Eric, and on and on...

Rory Gallagher

The Doors

Re: Who's your Top 5 ??

I love this list and seeing what everybody else listens to. And it reminds me of so many things that I used to listen to but got away from. Thanks for starting the tread, Murfdog!

Re: Who's your Top 5 ??

We'll have to play on this one:

Eric Johnson:   Magical tone and playing
Carl Verheyen:   Inspirational playing, unique note choices
Mike Landau:   Again, magical tone and playing
Joe Satriani:   Always love his hooks and grooves
Gary Hoey:   Been a fan since his Heavy Bones band days
Gary Moore:   Prefer the 80's metal era stuff, wild frontier especially
Joe:   Goes without saying!!

Have another player I love his playing, but recent interaction with changed opinion of person and has tainted my love for his playing.....but still a monster player......just had to pull from my top 8 list ( lol.... ), so I give you my top 7

Re: Who's your Top 5 ??

I hope Joe has read this topic....I am very proud to see his name along side the best acts of all time...Zep, The Who, Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Van Halem, etc. It really speaks to his dedication and talent...I'm blown away...I know we are on a slightly biased site here, but, Joe,  you really have "answered the bell" for us classic Rockers salivating for decent new music ! Who are your top 5?

Re: Who's your Top 5 ??

In order of discovery (sort of):

Aerosmith (catalog from S/T through Draw The Line is unbeatable)
Thin Lizzy (Phil, the songs, the guitarists - they had it all)
Rush (my first concert, 40 amazing years of simply being themselves)
UFO (seeing Michael Schenker live just blew me away, love Paul Chapman era too)
Gary Moore (all eras ... greatest guitarist ever)
Ozzy Osbourne (both Sabbath and solo - he has a strange, engaging appeal)
The Cars (helped me find my appreciation for pop melody)
Stevie Ray Vaughan (really opened my eyes to the blues)
Nirvana & Alice In Chains (changed music when we needed it most - and we need it again I think)
Deftones (beautiful and dangerous)
Joe Bonamassa (brought more maturity and diversity to my musical life)

These are the one my ears perk up every time I hear them.  These are the ones I never get tired of.  These are the ones I define myself and my "musical career" by.
