Re: RIP BB King

Billboard's article of Mr. B.B. Kings 's passing.

A nice read summary. (Mentions Mr. King and Joe share a Billboard record ... most albums on the Blues Charts ... at 25 titles each.)

"I was in Space for less than 2 weeks … and suddenly Jeaniene’s back … half the Band is off the gd wagon … we have comedians opening for us … and the nice kid that ran our website is now a kleptof’nmaniac.  Boy ... did you guys miss me!!"  Phil Valentine - Road Manager - Staton House Band

Re: RIP BB King

Nice, and they did honor him on the Billboard Music Awards tonight.

I'm a bit late, but here's a link to a great video of the King playing Why I Sing The Blues in Africa in 1974.  Awesome.

Re: RIP BB King

I’ve posted this link to the complete film on the Gov’t Mule thread but thought it worth sharing the part where the tribute kicked in here as well as it really was something special - last night Gov’t Mule with Elliott Randall, Bernie Marsden and Joe McGlohon(sax) playing a fantastic tribute with "The Thrill Is Gone”. It was a privilege to see this:

- watch in HD with good speakers.

I can't see any reason why anybody would want to poison him, but it appears someone was not doing a great job of looking out for B.B. towards the end of his life.  It sounded like a good thing his daughters sued to see that B.B. received proper medical assistance towards the end.  I was lucky to have seen B.B. perform back in 1999 and again in 2000 and he was amazing!  B.B. King was not only a blues icon, he was also an American icon.  He was always a class act.  B.B. King was one of a kind and shall forever be remembered that way!  R.I.P. Riley!

'One of his sons, Willie King of Chicago, said his father taught him to respond with love when others are angry.  "For a man coming out of the cotton field unlearned and you take his music and draw four corners of the world together — that is amazing," Willie King said Friday at the museum, where his father will be buried.'
